Buying a 1980’s fixer upper requires some courage, but more than that, it requires a lot of vision, which can be a little easier if you aren’t afraid of some elbow grease and if you have a talented daughter to help you out! This is exactly what happened to this lucky mother who had her daughter, Shelby of Farmhouse Living, envision the new areas and improve the spaces that needed improvement.
This fixer upper felt outdated but had the perfect layout for Shelby’s parents and all they really needed to do was add new flooring, bring some cozy furniture and accessories (think layered rugs and slipcovered furniture and add a new kitchen – a space that Shelby’s mom can certainly feel proud to call her own!)
The interiors now feel approachable with coastal farmhouse influences and the homeowners are happy with how they turned out.
Find a comfy spot and who knows… maybe this might even inspire you to renovate a fixer upper some day! 🙂
When it comes to redesign a home, you need to balance the elements and this thrifted and refinished hutch does it quite well to this space. The designer used a charcoal grey chalk paint and added white dinnerware for some contrast.
