Did you find anything you liked? I always try to mix different interior styles, from traditional, to transitional, to coastal so you can find your favorite interiors and feel inspired by them.
I can’t believe summer is basically done and Labour Day is already here! There’s so much I would like to talk about and I would love to say this summer was fun and wonderful, like I usually do, but I am not here to throw confetti in the air and give you an impression that my life is always colorful as a rainbow. If you read my blog, you know I am a positive person, but I am also real and very honest.
This summer was a painful one since the very first day. I lost my grandmother (as you already know, she raised me, therefore, she was my mother) and every day is being an experience. People say that life has to continue and we need to look forward and I agree with that, but life gets a little less “colorful” when you loose someone you love deeply. I am focusing on my faith (I know that God had better plans for my grandmother and I feel that she’s happy where she is.), and I am also focusing on my children. Their love and giggles are my “therapy”. 🙂
This summer wasn’t good for me but I can say that I have learned even more about how important it is to appreciate each day and especially, the people we love. I also have learned that we must live this life in a more peaceful way. We really have to stop over thinking about every little thing and we must stop putting our energy on things that can’t be changed. We can’t bring all the heavy loads from the past and we must not live a life waiting for something to happen to finally be happy. That is an illusion. Life is happening right now and this is the only moment you are guaranteed to have, so why not smile more, tell people how you truly feel and forgive what has to be forgiven? What are we really waiting for to happen to start living a good life? We have to take this question seriously.
My summer was a painful one and nothing can change that, but I surely can change how I am approaching this day. I am trying to focus in love instead of loss and even though this is not as easy as it might sound, I feel this is the only way I will be able to build my life the way I believe is the best life I can have.
Start this new month and soon, new season, searching each day for a better way to live the day you’ve been given.
I am starting this day with a certain relieve this summer is almost over. Perhaps I am ready to close this “chapter” and starting to write new “pages”. Right now, I see many opportunities ready to be unfolded and I am curious and I am open.
Blessings always arrive when we trust they will.
with Love,

I can identify with everything you said, having lost my Mom on Jul4th, after a long illness. I too know that she is in a better place, but still miss the Mom I used to have a few years ago. Thanks for being so open and honest with your readers., and for keeping up those lovely postings.
Hi Luciane,
I read your blog daily & love every photo you post. I am so sorry you lost your beloved Grandmother, it is never easy trying to fill the enormous hole our loved ones have left.
I too have had the summer of hell & I was having a difficult time reading blogs where every family seemed to be happy & enjoying
(I pressed the post key too soon) as I was saying – themselves. I know everyone is carrying around some pain, it’s just that yours seems to overwhelm you sometimes & even sunny summer days can’t brighten your day.
Thanks for keeping it real & for encouraging us to have faith that this too shall pass.
Barb
Luciane,
I enjoy your blog and wanted to thank you for all the work that must go into putting it together. I often visit interior design blogs but never comment. I was just touched by your post today and know what you are going thru.
Praying for you Luciane! I lost my grandmother 12 years ago (this week) and though she was my grandmother, my mother and I were terribly close to her. She lived with my husband and my family for 15 years and was my best friend. That first year was a painful one. The year of “firsts” is probably the hardest. Know that you have a family in blogland that is thinking of you and praying you through it. Thanks for spending time to bless us with the beautiful photos. I always look forward to your blog posts! Blessings my friend!
Bless you Luciane. Your grandmother lives on through you and your beautiful children. Thank you for your hard work and inspiration, the passion you put into your blog every day, and your words of wisdom. xoxo
So sorry about your grandmother. Hard to say goodbye to those that mean so much to us, I am sorry Luciane. We are all here for though and know you have a lot of friendship and support out here in blogland!
I love and admire how you are taking a painful experience and seeing the silver lining and realizing that there is a lesson to be learned, that is a beautiful thing and something that we can all learn from YOU. You are a great example so thank you. Sending you a big hug.
Dear Luciane, I want to say you how much I feel with you – and it is so like the readers above said, you have a family in blog land, they will thinking of you. And we learning from you. Thank you for being so honest. Your blog is much more than a blog!!!
Wish you all the best – a warm sunny start into the fall… .
Eli
Your blog is my go to fix….. love every thing. Thank you.
I filled my pin cup…thank you!! Your post are so moving…instead of an alarm waking me up blaring I need a voice speaking a different motivation to start my day. Now as we near the fall season I hope it will be filled with beautiful memories, tons of giggles and better health.
Do you know “anything about” the chandeliers featured in photos #5,6,7, & 8?? They look familiar to the one I’ve been “waiting on” since May!! franki
Hi Franki.
It’s always so nice hearing from you!
The pendants are the “Victorian Hotel Pendant – Polished Nickel” from Restoration Hardware. I Hope this helps! 🙂

Hello Luciane,
This post was from two years ago, but I still want to first say how sorry I am about your losing your beloved grandmother. I hope you honor her memory. 🙂
I wanted to ask about #31, the room painted in Benjamin Moore Storm…. do you know the color paint of the trim? Thank you.
Kind regards,
~Lina
