It’s so wonderful to start celebrating the best time of the year with a “Christmas Special Tour” by Lauren Morgan of @thehouseofmorgan. As you will shortly see, Lauren has a classic approach to design with a meticulous attention to detail, which makes everything in her home feel extra special!
Here, Lauren explains more about the creation of her home and how she decorates it for Christmas:
“Hello everyone, my name is Lauren Morgan of @thehouseofmorgan. I am so thrilled to be able to participate in the Home Bunch’s Christmas Special! I am honored that Luciane has allowed me to be included in this series. One of my favorite times of the year is Christmas. I have always thoroughly enjoyed the festivities and decorations that come with this holiday. Nothing gives me more joy than the “magic” that Christmas brings to my home and family.
A little bit about me is that I was born and raised in Tennessee where I met my high school sweetheart. We have now been married for 10 years and share three beautiful children together. Our family loves traveling and spending quality time with each other as much as possible. We love spending countless hours boating on the Tennessee river, as well as relaxing on the beach. Family is everything to me.
Throughout our time together I have always envisioned what my “dream home” would look like, and that has changed and evolved many times. However after having our last baby, I was able to sit down and visualize what our family needed and wanted in our future home. The first requirement was that it had to be on land. So the search began for the right piece of property. After many months, we stumbled upon the perfect location near the lake that we always loved going to. We found 6 acres of property that backed up to the water and quickly made the purchase so that we could start building.
Now the fun part! We then met with our architect to put our vision on paper. This was so exciting watching my thoughts come to life. I knew we wanted a “French Modern” style with timeless designs, and I feel like we accomplished this goal. I am a sucker for wainscoting, so I made sure there was plenty of that in our design cues. I have always said, “wainscoting is like jewelry for walls!” Once finalizing our plans, we chose our builder and started breaking ground April 1, 2020. It took right at 12 months to complete our beautiful home which we love so dearly. As we take this tour, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!”
“For the exterior of this home, you will find that it is faced in white painted tumbled brick. The brick is Everest Gray Tudor from General Shale and is painted in a Low Luster finish from Benjamin Moore in the color China White.” – Lauren Morgan of @thehouseofmorgan.
“As you will see, we wanted to incorporate a lot of arches in our architecture. However, we also wanted a balance by using angles as well. That is why you will notice our archway walking into the front door, as well as the double arched windows on the front of the house, are balanced by traditional style windows. Our front door was custom made by a local vendor of solid mahogany of which we used a solid stain in the Benjamin Moore Stone Hearth.” – Lauren Morgan of @thehouseofmorgan.
“We wanted a very elegant look to our front court yard space, which is why we chose to go with stamped concrete with an antiqued finish. To tie the space together, we chose two copper Bevolo 30” Governor Gas Lanterns to flank both side of the entrance to our home. We also incorporated Bevolo French Quarter 21” Lanterns over our garage space. One thing we wanted to accomplish with our roofing and gutters was a slight contrast with the lighter tones of the painted brick. We chose weathered wood shingles from Tamko and dark bronze gutters to give us the look we were going for.” – Lauren Morgan of @thehouseofmorgan.

“I believe the front of a home sets the expectation for the rest. This is why these areas were important to me. If a book doesn’t start out well and draw you in, it is hard to continue reading. I feel this same way with houses and interior design. It all starts at the front door.” – Lauren Morgan of @thehouseofmorgan.
Rug: Elliott Hand-knotted Rug 3×5.
“As seen throughout the house we chose a white oak flooring called “Coastal Couture Beachwood Oak” from Mohawk Industries. This is an engineered hardwood because we liked the look of wider flooring.” – Lauren Morgan of @thehouseofmorgan.
Cedar Garlands: Crate & Barrel – Others: here, here & here.
“Let’s not forget about my favorite part of the house, the foyer! My goal of this space was to establish a grand and welcoming entrance when people walked in. I wanted to set the tone for the rest of the home. The arched staircase features solid white oak treads stained to match the flooring. We also made sure to put plenty of wainscoting in this space. Remember, it is jewelry for walls! ” – Lauren Morgan of @thehouseofmorgan.

“When designing our interior floor plan, the goal was to have our spaces open. We love the feeling of open areas for hosting parties. I made sure the home flowed well and felt elegant every step of the way. From the arched staircase at the entry way foyer, to the large mantle over our fireplace, I wanted there to be wow moments.” – Lauren Morgan of @thehouseofmorgan.

“A lot of thought was put in when designing our kitchen. We wanted it to be functional, yet gorgeous. We went with maple shaker style doors painted in semi gloss paint by Worth. The paint color we chose was Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore which was matched on the cabinets. I fell in love with our white oven with gold knobs from Hallman and wanted to accent the rest of the kitchen with gold as well. Hence why we chose gold hardware throughout the kitchen as well as the Darlana fixtures.” – Lauren Morgan of @thehouseofmorgan.

“In our bathrooms we wanted to continue the use of marble because we love the natural characteristics of it. The master bath marble choice was Brazilian Carrara because it gave warmth to the white within the room and paired well with our tile. We wanted a clean and crisp look in the bathroom, but wanted some gray to give warmth, which the marble accomplished.” – Lauren Morgan of @thehouseofmorgan.
