What a pleasure it is to be featuring yet another inspiring new-construction home by Alturas Homes and interior designer Lauren Smyth of Lauren Smyth Interior Design. Today, we will be touring their latest project; a Modern Farmhouse on a small lot.
This home offers charm with a little bit of bold, creating a warm and inviting home. The luxury finishes of Sherwin Williams Pewter Green on the cabinets with mixed black and gold metals meet fun and preppy plaid and herringbone tile. The full height brick fireplace in the Great Room will be a staple for relaxation and gatherings.

“For this home I wanted to create a new take on the classics. I think sometimes when we hear the word “classic”, color doesn’t always come to mind, but I really feel if it’s done right, it won’t ever feel too dated. In the common areas, I used a neutral to almost gray- green tone on the cabinets and paired it with gold and black on the lighting and fixtures. I kept the floors in a neutral taupe tone to ground the space and went with a slightly distressed red brick on the fireplace to round out the color palette. In the bathrooms I wanted to bring in some of that warmth, so I opted for a stained cabinet and paired it with familiar silhouettes on the tile and lighting with a clean black and white color scheme everywhere else. Other favorite parts of this home include the entry nook where we added some accent lighting with the sconces and the powder bathroom with the plaid print tile.”” – Lauren Smyth
