Every year, as the weather starts to get better outside, many homeowners get ready to renovate their homes and, with that, our search for the perfect cabinet paint color starts. In this post, you will find 5 cabinet paint colors approved and recommended by builders and interior designers. I am explaining about these color undertones and showing how they look on a variety of cabinets, such as kitchens, bathroom, mudrooms and more.

White Cabinet Paint Color: Benjamin Moore OC-45 Swiss Coffee has the perfect amount of warmth, with undertones of gray and yellow, which gives it a perfectly balanced white, not reading too cold nor too warm. Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee is the perfect white color for cabinets because it works perfectly with most wood tones, including white oak, as we see above. Benjamin Moore OC-45 Swiss Coffee is also used on walls and ceilings in the picture above and you can see the full tour of this kitchen here.
Popular White Paint Colors: These are some other very popular white paint colors for cabinets that designers often use; Benjamin Moore Simply White (see kitchen), which tends to feel bright/crisp white but not cold and it works well with spaces facing north. Sherwin Williams Extra White (see kitchen) is perfect if you prefer a crisp/clean white. Slight gray undertones can be noticed in dark spaces.

Neutral Paint Color: Sherwin Williams Heron Plume is a color with a subtle violet undertone which makes this color feel airy and gentle. Sometimes we are looking for a color that is not really white, nor gray and not quite greige. If you are imagining a color for your cabinet that is neutral – not too warm nor too cold – that color exists and it’s called “Sherwin Williams Heron Plume“. You’re welcome! 😉
Warm Neutrals: If you are looking for a earthier and warmer neutral, consider Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray (see laundry room), which is a nice and light warm color or Portola French Beige (see mudroom), which is more of a deep taupe color.

Grey Cabinet Paint Color: Benjamin Moore Sparrow is a warm dark gray with earthy brown undertones that is perfect for cabinets. As we see above, it pairs really well with brushed brass hardware.
Light Gray Cabinet Paint Color: Sherwin Williams Repose Gray (see basement laundry room and guest bathroom)Â is a light gray paint color. I especially love Benjamin Moore Pale Oak (see kids’ bathroom) on cabinets, which is a light warm grey that is very versatile. Benjamin Moore Horizon (see kitchen) is a true light grey that is soothing and is perfect for kitchen cabinets.

Black Cabinet Paint Color: “Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black.” Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black is one of the most trendy black paint colors and it’s often used on cabinets. Since it’s a true black paint color – no undertones are detected – it looks great with any undertone.

Blue Cabinet Paint Color: Navy Blue by Benjamin Moore. When it comes to blue paint colors for cabinets, especially navy blue, you can’t go wrong with Benjamin Moore Navy Blue. This navy blue paint color is a true classic and it is perfect to give a classic coastal feel to your cabinets.
All Shades of Blue: If you dream of having a light blue cabinet that feels subtly coastal, Sherwin Williams Serenely (see kitchen island and laundry room) is highly recommended. Another stunning navy blue paint color you might like is Benjamin Moore Blue Note (see kitchen island). If you are looking for a lighter blue-gray paint color for cabinets, consider Benjamin Moore Silver Mink (see “her office and “laundry room”). If you love blue and green, Benjamin Moore HC-158 Newburg Green (see daughter’s bathroom) is a fun and rich blue-green paint color that is as modern as it is classic.

Green Cabinet Paint Color: Sherwin Williams Crooked River. Sherwin Williams Crooked River is a bold color that reads like as a mossy green with slight brown undertones. This color is classic and it adds a sense of freshness to any room of the house.
Dark Green Cabinet Paint Color: If you’re looking for a deeper green paint color for your cabinets, “Sherwin Williams SW 6188 Shade-Grown“ (see bar) is a gorgeous color as well!
