I can’t say that I have watched all seasons of one of the most popular shows on HGTV, Fixer Upper. Admittedly, I work a lot and I don’t have much time for TV shows, but the more I searched for farmhouse interior ideas, the more the names of Chip and Joanna Gaines came up. That’s when I decided to sit down and see what the buzz about Fixer Upper was all about. It took one episode for me to become one of their newest fan and let’s face it, you can’t be a fan of the show if you don’t like modern farmhouse interiors.
Here I am sharing the 6 Fixer Upper inspired farmhouse interior trends designed by many interior designers that have also brought this look to their clients’ homes.
Joana and Chip often use white and mix materials on the homes they design. White, or off-white, like we see above, is a hot color when it comes to farmhouse living, on the exterior as well as on the interior. When this classic color is paired with industrial and non-conventional materials it becomes a perfect match.
Shiplap has quickly become a favorite thanks to Joanna & Chip Gaines. Here, Romanelli & Hughes Custom Home Builders added floor-to-ceiling shiplap on the walls and used a dark grey, Sherwin Williams Black Fox, to bring some drama to the space.
Black and white never looked so beautiful and it works even better when paired with shiplap and warm wood!
Barn doors have been seen in many Fixer Upper episodes and I specifically like this one, designed by Gulfshore Design. Simple whitewashed pine planks make a great barn door!
Reclaimed and warm wood tones will always be a player when it comes to farmhouse designs. This farmhouse kitchen, designed by Markalunas Architecture Group, features thick Carrara marble slab countertop, reclaimed beams, brick backsplash and metal shelves beside zinc hood.
Subway tile with dark grout is a hit to farmhouse style. This grout is Delorean Gray.

Hi Luciane, I have been a huge fan of Home Bunch for years now, but have never left a comment … so THANK YOU so much for all the work you do on this site … my day is never complete without a Home Bunch fix! 🙂
And yes I’m also a big fan of Chip and Joanna Gaines after learning about them a year ago when their show finally began airing on TV here in Australia. I haven’t seen this house yet though… and it’s another stunner! So many thanks.
Cheers from Kyla … Brisbane Australia
Hi, Luciane. I’ve been a huge fan of Jo and Chip’s show for more than a year, have watched all seasons, and the most attractive feacher of this show is that Jo approach every client and every fixer upper house in an indivudual and unique way, all the projects are different and the only thing that they have in common is the perfect sence of style and beauty!
Warm greets from Ukraine)
I love the show and her style is wonderful. I only have issues with the lack of half baths and closets in the main part of the houses and the lack of garages. If there is one they turn it into living space. It’s unrealistic that they don’t have these 3 spaces. Maureen (MA)
More than any other email of the day…Home Bunch is my favorite! Thanks for all the work you put into showing us inspiring homes. I also love the Gaines, their open faith and the quality work they do. Their cute interactions with each other as well as their unselfish giving attitude are what a marriage looks like when God is at the center. Bless you, Luciane for all you do to brighten our days!
Hi Crystal,
