If you’ve spent any amount of time watching television shows about marvelous luxury homes, you know they’re located all over the globe. However, there are some that simply stand out more than others. The Razor House, located in lovely La Jolla, CA is one of those. It took six years to construct, and there are numerous reasons why it’s an unforgettable piece of real estate.
It Has a Private Beach
Pictures of the Razor House show how it’s nestled among La Jolla’s rocky cliffs, and nearly built up against the surf. However, people residing in this luxurious house get to do more than just admire the ocean from a distance. That’s because the house includes private access to Black’s Beach. That means its occupants always have a prime setting for hosting beach parties attended by all their closest friends.
It Capitalizes On Natural Light
Houses with a lot of windows not only let people enjoy natural beauty that surrounds the residences, but potentially allow them to save on electricity bills because they can illuminate their homes with sunlight rather than electric-powered lights. The Razor House offers great examples of how to let in natural light and do so in an elegant way.
In fact, glass is one of the main materials used to build the Razor House, and it features huge, sleek panes that were used to make floor-to ceiling windows. Some of the largest windows are found in the home’s lounge areas, which make it easy for people to enjoy the environment around the home without even needing to go outside.
The Home Always Has Room for Guests
Even the most sociable people can sometimes be a bit taken aback when guests show up unexpectedly. However, the Razor House has ample room for unplanned occupants, and those individuals can stay in the residence without interrupting activities that are happening in the main part of the residence.
That’s because there’s a guesthouse that has two bedrooms and full bathrooms, plus a carport and separate entrances. The detached nature of the guesthouse allows the people who are staying in it to come and go as they please and enjoy a high level of privacy during their time on the property.
A Lot of Thought Went Into Its Design
Razor House got its name from one of La Jolla’s local monuments, Razor Point. Also, designer Walter Cunningham wanted to come up with a residential plan so his finished structure would take full advantage of La Jolla’s famously beautiful scenery. He settled on a cantilevered design that offers gorgeous panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. Cunningham has achieved acclaim within his field, and the extent of his skill is obvious throughout Razor House.
It’s Possible to Control Parts of the Home With an iPad
Home automation systems are becoming increasingly popular, especially in homes that are as sprawling as the Razor House. It makes sense, then, why a decision was made to install technology that allows people to make adjustments throughout the home by tapping the touchscreen of an iPad. They can raise and lower the window shades, dim the lights, or set the mood with some favorite tunes in seconds.
The Home Has an Infinity Swimming Pool
Although it’s not uncommon for Californian homes to have swimming pools, it’s easy to argue the Razor House offers a more fantastic one than most. It has a 5,100 cubic foot infinity swimming pool. When taking a dip in it, swimmers seem to be cooling off in water that extends all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
It Could Be the Setting for Your Next Photo Shoot
Many luxurious homes are off limits except to the people who live in them, and their closest friends. However, the same is not quite true in regards to the Razor House. Don Burns is an established person in the telecommunications industry who oversees an LLC that has a major financial stake in the Razor House.
He’s decided to make the Razor House open to people who’d like an interesting venue for photo and video shoots. If you need graduation or wedding photos and want people to be amazed at your choice of location, the Razor House could be an ideal option.
There’s an Amazing Home Theater
As you’ve probably gathered by now, the Razor House is designed and equipped to defy expectations. True to form, it has a home theater that’s much more lavish than most people could ever hope to have in their own homes.
Made with acoustically treated floors and walls, the theater has a curved multi-aspect ration screen, plus tiered seating so guests can get ideal views that aren’t obstructed by other occupants. A high-definition digital projector completes this setup, which is sure to make movie fans jealous.
These are just some of the highlights that make the Razor House a truly stunning architectural achievement that’s chock-full of luxurious perks. Even if you don’t ever get to see it in person, hopefully this overview has sparked inspiration by giving you ideas about what’s possible.
