Talking about peaceful, I don’t think things can get more peaceful than living in a gorgeous lake house with a heavenly view like we’re about to see. For me, this new “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” feels extra sweet. Lisa and Derick of @oldcampbell_lakehouse are not only living in their dream home but they’re also expecting their first child. As you can see, this is a very special moment in the life of this growing family and I want to welcome them to the blog. Home Bunch was such an inspiration to us throughout our build with the countless number of beautiful homes that are featured! I am originally from California but claim Georgia as home. I have lived in several other locations as well, including Sao Paulo, Brazil, Chicago and New York City. My husband was born and raised in Ohio. We both moved to Arkansas about 7 years ago for work and fell in love with the area. Northwest Arkansas is the home of several large corporate headquarters, including Walmart, Tyson Foods & JB Hunt. The area has a small-town charm with amazing outdoor activities, world-class art and has been topping the charts for “Best Place to Live” for the past several years.
When we first came across this amazing piece of land, we were not in the market to build for ourselves; in fact, we had just finished building a house only 2 years prior. The land had not been touched for 60+ years and the woods were so thick that you couldn’t even see the lake. We ended up buying 10 acres and subdivided the property in to 3 separate lots. We started to clear the land and could not believe our eyes when the views opened. I still remember the day when my husband said, “change of plans – we need to build our dream home on this property.” And that is when our journey began!
We spent almost a year clearing the property and prepping the land for the build. We worked with Celtic Construction on the build because he has the best subs in Northwest Arkansas. The entire project took 26 months with the build home lasting approximately 14 months. The floorplan was custom designed with a draftsman and the original plans were completed by my husband. We hand-selected every detail of the home and spent many nights and weekends on Instagram, Pinterest & Houzz looking for inspiration.
We have officially been living in the new house for about 6 months and are loving every minute. The sunrises and sunsets over the lake take our breath away daily. Our boat dock was recently delivered, and we are very excited to enjoy lake life this summer!”
