Patina \PAT-n-uh; puh-TEEN-uh\ – Don’t you like this word? More than a word, patina is choice that describes good taste. This week we’re seeing a beautiful cottage in France where nothing (and I mean, nothing!) seems to be new. You’ll find patina everywhere your eyes land and everything becomes integrated into a magnificent aura.
I’m a big believer that adding any room with some patina brings a sense of time and history. It can add charm and interest, but most of all, it can make a “cold” space feel lived-in and warm, which pretty much every house should be.
I hope you appreciate this place as much as I did.

What a unique cottage! Each image is spectacular in itself …I don’t know if I could take a whole house in it but love the elements individually. The arched wall / ceiling in the last image is stunning! LOVE the dining table.

I think every room needs “patina” in order to keep it from looking to new. It also makes a room look more liven in and touchable. Love that first image with the curved ceilings.

Very wabi sabi. Each element looks like it has been placed with thought and care. Love this old organic, rescued ruin look and would love to vacation here. The look is rather impossible to duplicate without the ancient architecture, though. Most of the light fixtures look like they have candles in them and the lighting comes from small spotlights. Very romantic. Love that rocking chair.
