The colors for interior design in 2023 are all about comfort and calmness. Deep hues with plenty of shades of brown, deep greens, black and warm greys are all trendy and very hot. Today, you and I will dig into the top paint color trends for 2023.
What has changed when it comes to paint colors for 2023? Are we moving on to a new trend or will things continue to be the same? What’s the new exciting thing when it comes to color? That answer, most likely, will vary on where you are applying it. Are you looking for paint colors for your walls, cabinets or exterior? For the exterior, I feel that nothing has changed from last year, but when it comes to the interior, this post will give you an idea of what’s trendy right now, so you can use it as a guide.
Back to the Classics:
For a long time we have seen and experienced the “all light and bright” trend where most homes featured all-white interiors mixed with lots of black accents. I have shared so many of these homes here on the blog and I still love them, but I am sorry to say that this trend, like every other big trend, is slowly fading away. That doesn’t mean that you need to completely change your entire home if your place is like that. In fact, the only rule I live by is that you shouldn’t change a thing if you love how you live. But, if you love change and if you think the new color trends for this year are something that will appeal to you even more, the good news is that these trendy hues are very easy to add to your home. How easy? A can of paint with the right color should do it! Be ready to start getting inspired!
Cool greys are starting to fade out and are being replaced by earthy and tonal hues. The walls above, in “Sherwin Williams Retreat”, are a great example of how an earthy color can make a room that tends to feel colder become more warm and calm.

The new neutrals are toasty neutrals. We are talking about warm beiges and deep browns. But keep in mind that this is not the early 2000s browns. The new browns are more sophisticated and worked.

The “new” white is not so new if you have been loving interior design for a while. We’re going back to creamy, gentle and warm whites on walls and cabinets. Think of a vanilla latte, almond milk… and forget about that stark white we’re tired of. The new white is all about being easier on the eyes and making a home feel warmer.

Thank goodness for color. The world would be incredibly tiring and boring if there was no color and good designers always know how to work with it. When it comes to color, we will be seeing plenty of vintage-inspired hues with depth and warmth. These cabinets feature a deep teal color; “Benjamin Moore Yorktowne Green”.

Benjamin Moore’s color of the year is “Raspberry Blush” and since it then, we are seeing many shades of red and shades of clay, which is also very trendy in 2023. For me, “Farrow and Ball Smoked Trout” is the perfect shade of clay. It’s warm, comforting and not too loud. The only thing missing in this home office is a glass of rosé! 🙂
