Loving traditional homes doesn’t mean you have to be stuck with old fashioned decor. Nowadays, traditional spaces should feel light and open, but always keeping a respect for traditional elements.
This particular house, built by Ellen Grasso, has about 4800 sq ft. and a terrific white kitchen and classic marble bathroom.
According to the builder, this wonderful traditional family home have some contemporary elements; defining the new traditional, or Metropolitan style. It feels comfortably familiar but has recognizable pizzaz, perfectly combining traditional characteristics with modern design in a very classy and timeless way.
Elegant Traditional Home
The slick, modern entry hall sets the mood for the house, the cool satiated marble floor has a traditional form in the herringbone pattern but a modern flair in the choice of stone. The entry is open to the study, the dining room, and staircase.
Floors: The inset is Athens Silver Cream from Ann Sacks. The wood is 5″ common/quartered red oak stained with a mix of ebony, antique brown, and coffee brown, and finished with 2 coats of polyurethane.
Light fixture is from Horchow.
Paint Color: Walls: “Sherwin Williams Toque White”.
Trim: “Sherwin Williams Snowball”.
Family Room
Light, bright family room with a smoke leuders mantel. Stained wood beams accent the pale tones in the room. Tall French doors with transoms give a light airy feel to the room.
Coffee table is the “Scaffolding table” by James Dewulf.
Armoire is the “Gate armoire in belgian grey” by DwellStudio.
Wall Color Formula: “Sherwin Williams Toque White – 150%”
Floors: This is 5″ wide Common/Quartered red oak finished with DURASEAL stain and 3 coats of polyurethane. The color is 1 part each of Ebony, Antique Brown, and Coffee Brown.
Kitchen
This is a cool white kitchen, with a stunning “statuary white marble” island.
Perimeter countertop is “Honed Azul Aran granite”. Backsplash isWalker Zanger – Tuileries Blanc Brique 2 x 7.
The light fixture above the table is a “Sausalito by Troy Lighting”.
The pendants above the island are “Visual Comfort Edwardian Lanterns”.
Hardware is are “Strande” 6″ in chrome from Restoration Hardware.
Table and chairs are also from Restoration Hardware.
Floorplan: Dimensions: 26’11” x 14′. The kitchen part is 14’8″ and the breakfast part is 12’3″. The breakfast room has a boxed out window-seat.
Cabinets Color: “Sherwin Williams Shoji White”.
Butler’s Pantry
Beautify and practical. I am loving this space!
Backsplash is Weave Glass 1×4 offset in Shadow. The sink is just a plain-jane stainless undercount in a 15×15 size and countertop is “statuary white marble”.
Hardware is by Restoration Hardware.
Marble Bathroom
The glass shelf niche in the tub has puck lights for mood lighting. I also like the mirror… it expands the space and adds light.
Paint Color: according to the designer, they started with the trim – “Sherwin Williams Snowbound” and then mixed it at 200% to get a color that was just slightly different.
Floors are polished Carrera in the middle and polished Bella Bianco around the edge. The Bella Bianco is a Walker Zanger product.
Classic Bathroom
This spacious master bath has a private shower and private toilet room that you can see in the mirror. Shades of white and gray accented with cool greens project serenity.
Faucet are Dryden by Delta .
Light fixture is Belle Luna small by Currey and Co.

Front door were made to order from Wilson Plywood in Dallas.
Te exterior is a blend of smoke leuders, gray leuders, and Granbury plum stones. The shutters are black and the roof is a davinci slate.
