When designing homes for clients, I always focus on the way each member of the family lives. Combining comfortable interiors with creative spaces is fundamental in my opinion and this home, designed by Ellen Grasso & Sons, LLC has so many interesting ideas that many of us should learn from.
Family living nowadays is focused in homes that can accommodate practical and creative spaces. With more members of the family working from home, we see a large demand in organized home offices or large studies for the kids to have a specific space for learning. Spaces like these are not only beautiful and useful, but they often help develop a more collaborative study environment, where the kids and parents work together. This particular home has a craft room that has inspired many of us and today I am sharing some useful sources with you. Perhaps, this will help you to create something similar in your own home.
This family home is the kind of place where everyone can find their own space and grow within it. And this is how we should design our home; offering a safe and welcoming space while providing opportunities for an imaginative future. Good opportunities should start at home.
Family Home with Creative Interiors
This is a space that grabs your attention without being overwhelming. Truly well-designed. I especially like the beams and the doors to the patio.
The material on the fireplace wall is 3 different sizes of tile from “Materials Marketing” – 2×9, 3×16, and 4×24. The material is vein cut travertine called “Vintage Vein”.
The doors, the beams and cabinets are mahogany. They are stained with Rosewood stain and finished with 2 coats of satin finish polyurethane.
Paint Color is “Sherwin Williams Shoji White” 150% of formula.
Dimensions: This room is 23′ long by 19′ wide.
Dining Room
This is a very popular dining room in the blogland and for a good reason. You simply can’t beat the wall color and the chic blend of traditional and contemporary styles.
The chandelier is the “Dauphin Chandelier by Curry and Co.”. The table and chairs are custom made.
The floors are 5″ common/quartered white oak, lightly hand scraped with the grain, stained with Duraseal Rosewood, and finished with 2 coats of Eukula hardwax oil.
Wall color was custom-mixed on the job. The builder started with “Sherwin Williams North Star” and then played with the color by adding tints until they got it so that it suited the homeowner.
Kitchen
A dream white kitchen with a smart layout! Bright, sunny, loaded with cabinets and great details.
The countertops are polished Alaskan White granite. The backsplash is Walker Zanger. The windows are Sierra Pacific.
Light fixtures are13x 22 “Sausalito” made by Troy Lighting. The hardware is Restoration Hardware.
Island Dimensions: 50″ x 96″
Sitting Room
The sitting room is the perfect space for cocktails with another couple when you want a cozy, intimate space.
Paint Color is “Sherwin Williams #7021 Simply White”.
Patio
A very comfortable, usable outdoor space, which looks even better with that puppy!
Crafts & Media
When your kids outgrow the “playroom”, they are ready for a room designed for crafts, computer time, or just hanging out with friends. This sunny space features a custom designed craft table with room for each child to have her own supplies, but with plenty of room to work with friends.
Island Dimensions: 54″ x 54″. Each column of storage is 16′ x 16″. All framing is made of 2×2’s, with 1/2″ plywood for the shelves and solid wood for the draw fronts.
Height: 42″.
Countertop is honed “Absolute Black granite”.
The storage bins came fromWest Elm.
Room Dimensions: 18×16.
Laundry Room – Floor Tiles
Folding laundry can be fun in this space!
The tile flooring is what makes this laundry room to stand out.
Soothing Bedroom
A serene master bedroom with calming shades of beige. Dimmable indirect lighting is wonderfully hidden to show of the linen ceiling. Custom leather bedside tables and foot stools add to the luxury.
Paint Color: First the walls were painted Sherwin Williams Shoji white and then they are glazed with Sherwin Williams “Faux Impressions” Antique White Metallic.
Bathroom
This fresh, white bathroom makes you feel clean just walking into it! One huge window and lots of mirrors add the opulent atmosphere. The light fixtures are Curry and Co. The marble is Carrera. The faucets are Santec.
The mosaic is cubic bianco from Interceramic.
Sconces are “Venus wall sconce” by Currey & Co.
Paint Color: Cabinets are “Sherwin Williams Extra White”.
The walls are Sherwin Williams Shoji White.
Turquoise Bedroom
It’s impossible to not feel cheered-up by this turquoise bedroom.
Light fixture is the “Oval Ring Drum Shade Pendant”.
Small Bathroom Design
This small bathroom has some classic elements, such as white subway tiles and black granite. This is a bathroom that will grow with your child.
Paint Color: “Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray”.
Teen Bedroom Design
A new take on pink bedroom design!
The light fixture is from Pottery Barn. The paint is all Sherwin Williams. The trim is Shoji White. The pink was custom-mixed.
Media Room
Sophisticated and understated – my favorite combination! The brown and beige color palette is expressed subtly in the upholstered sound panels, the bar top and tiles, the carpet and theater seating. The custom sconces blend seamlessly with the entire look.
According to the designer, the room is 26′ from end to end. The back of the first row of chairs is at 13′ from the screen. The screen end of the room is 18′ wide and the bar end is 20′ wide. You get better sound if nothing is square and/or flat.
Outdoor Living
Looking in from the patio, you can see how much the outside space is part of the inside space.
Fans are made by Minka Aire. It’s the wet-rated gyro fan.

I hope you had a good time here. I will be very busy today. My kids are having some extra activities this year and I feel I am always on the run. Even though I feel tired at the end of the day, I know this is a moment that I have to cherish with all of my heart. They’re growing so fast and making these memories with them is all that really matters for me.
Have a beautiful day, my friends and thank you for stopping by! 🙂

Would love to find out the source of the upholstered bed in the Soothing Bedroom!
I love the back patio living area. I could see that in my backyard just pinned those two photos have a good Thursday.
What a great family house! I love how open and light and airy it is…..a place for everyone. I would love to have that craft room…..beautiful!
I love this house.
Being in Australia where the outdoor lifestyle is a huge part of living here, I can appreciate a fabulous outdoor patio – I like the fact you can have “real” furniture out there as the patio has a roof. Lovely spaces.
Very fun indeed~
Where did you find mirror in the dining room?
