If you have a family, chances are you’re always trying to improve where you live, adjusting for everyone’s changing needs and tastes. This family home is full of great design ideas.
When I first saw this home I noticed how it was designed for family living in mind and how it practically had everything young families are currently looking for in a home. This family home has a popular floorplan with open-concept interiors — kitchen opening to family room, dining room being connect to the kitchen through a butler’s pantry, home offices, mudroom, craftroom, upper floor laundry room, kids’ bedrooms with their own ensuite and of course, a dream basement with its own bar.

Family Home Design Ideas
This classic home was perfectly designed.
Entryway
The entryway is well-appointed with dark stained floors, millwork and glass pocket-doors.
Den
This den is handsome and not too formal.
Sconces are the “Ginger Single Arm Sconce by Alexa Hampton”.
Architectural Details
I always like foyers that offer some privacy and it doesn’t show the entire house as soon you open the door.
Dining Room
Spacious and full of personality! Guests will not be bored in this dining room.

Color was added with blue velvet chairs, rug and artwork.

Lovely ceiling design and chandelier!
Butler’s Pantry
This butler’s pantry is small, but very practical. Mirror is used as backsplash to reflect light and make the space appear larger. Marble counters add a glamorous touch to the space.
Kitchen Design
You will see many inspiring kitchen design out there, but this one is a winner. What a great kitchen!
Kitchen & Family Room
The kitchen is open to a spacious family room.
Island
Great kitchen layout and color scheme. I also love the lighting in this kitchen.
Farmhouse Sink
This kitchen has a great farmhouse sink. I really like it being placed in a corner with the windows and the striking light fixture above. Full of personality!
The gorgeous arabesque-inspired backsplash is a combination of Carrara and grey marble.
Eating Nook
This spacious kitchen opens to a cozy eating nook.
Kitchen Countertop
Stunning gray honed marble countertops.
White Kitchen
The stools add some color to this kitchen. Note a small TV is located above, close to the hood.

The open-concept floorplan is perfect for entertaining and family living.

I am loving the decor in this Family Room! The blue chairs are the “Delano Leather Chair” by High Fashion Home.

Great combination of home office, craft zone and mudroom. Don’t we all need a room like this one?

These are linen patterned porcelain tiles. Aren’t they beautiful?

The backsplash is “Random Circles marble Tile”. You can google it and you’ll find many different colors from many different sources.
Landing Area
The landing area has a practical built-in and nice decor.

This is a dreamy bedroom. Cozy, inviting and pretty!

Lighting is “Scallop chandelier by Barbara Barry”. Elegant and feminine!

Great choice on bedding and pillows.Bedding is the “Rosette Quilt by Anthropologie.”
I also like the idea of adding the kids pictures above the bed. It was beautifully done in this space.

This bathroom beautifully mixes traditional elements with trendy ones.

This jack and jill bathroom has separate sink areas and I feel this design works really well.

The toilet and shower is in the middle, separate by the sink areas. Privacy is added with pocket doors on both sides.
Girl’s Bedroom Design
This girl’s bedroom is just the best! I love everything about it, from the ceiling molding to the bright colors.

Paint Color
I really like how they used three paint colors on the walls. It created a nice color scheme to the rest of the room.
Guest Bedroom
This guest bedroom feels youthful and elegant at the same time.

The guest bathroom is small, but well-designed.

Sunny and practical, this feminine home office is simply perfect.

What a dreamy home office! Who wouldn’t get organized here? And yes, I want it too!
Laundry Room
This laundry room is located on the upper floor and it has plenty of storage.
Floors are once again linen patterned porcelain tiles.
Basement
The basement is fun and perfect for entertaining.

This area is comfy and great to watch a movie or hang-out with friends.

This bar feels rustic and masculine.

You don’t need to complicate or break the bank to decorate a guest bedroom. Just add a pretty bed and very comfy bedding and there you have an inviting space that any guest would appreciate.

Guys, what a crazy weekend! My kids are into hockey and they’re starting to have all of these training and power skating lessons , which is really fun and great, but I have to say that I am super tired!
Did I mention my husband (the kids “coach”) lost two teeth playing hockey with the kids today? What can I say?
Any parent’s of little hockey players out there? How do you guys handle the crazy schedule? 🙂
Other than that, I am great… happy, healthy and exciting for working on an exciting project. My clients are amazing and they’re working so hard on their family room. It’s always wonderful to work with people that are open to your ideas and do their best to improve their space. The results are always beautiful!

This house is a lot of fun to look at. It is traditional and yet trendy (I mean this in a good way) and also as you say “full of personality!” I like the damask tile. Very pretty. Thanks for sharing this house. I love learning from your comments on the pictures 🙂
p.s. We have in common that we are both Hockey Mom’s! All 3 of my guys play hockey, both ice and roller. My youngest son’s team was very competitive and they even made it to Pee Wee Quebec to compete one year. So I know what you are talking about regarding practices and busy hockey weekends! My husband has played his entire life but he never lost two teeth! Hope your husband is OK!
