Located only an hour from Dallas, this farmhouse seems like a great place to escape during the weekends.
When reached by the homeowners, the interior designer Marci Barnes from M. Barnes & Co., knew this couldn’t feel like any other house located in the region. This farmhouse had to feel authentic and be accommodating to the owner’s needs.
The interior designer added a beautiful color palette that feels fresh for any kind of farmhouse interior with a hint of color. The result is a farmhouse that is inspiring from the moment you open the doors.
Authentic Farmhouse with Inspiring Interiors
According to the designer, this is the country home for a family of 6 and the permanent home of 60 goats, 2 horses, 3 donkeys, plus chickens and bunnies.
The house has about 4,500 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 4½ bathrooms, plus a pool house.
Dining Room
The dining room features soft shades of blue and green, casual textures and a comfortable furniture.
Antique table is from Round Top, a very popular antique market in Texas and the drapery fabric is Cowtan & Tout.
The painting above the French sideboard is by Scott Kerr in Dallas.
Open Layout
With an open layout, this family room feels connected and it has plenty of space for everyone in the family.
The space features French doors, gorgeous ceiling and wide plank floors.
Ottoman was made from an antique child’s bed. How clever is that?
Unexpected Decor
Everything is about comfort in this farmhouse. The designer says that the family wanted the farmhouse to have a casual, comfortable country feel and this living room carries this feeling.
Besides being casual, this room also feels unexpected with the addition of the antique windmill blades over the fireplace. Certainly, there’s nothing ornate about this family room and I love that!
Wide Plank Hardwood
The hardwood floors are 10-inch-wide hand-scraped reclaimed pine.
Mud Room
The mud room is fun and full of interesting antiques that the homeowner collected or purchased at the Round Top, in Texas.
Laundry Room
There’s so much to be inspired about this laundry room. A beautiful fabric was added behind the chicken wire cabinets while shelves and baskets add storage and texture to this space.
Brick flooring is also a fun and durable idea to any laundry room or mud room.
Countertop is limestone.
Guest Bedroom
Isn’t this guest bedroom charming? The walls are whitewashed planks with spaces of ¼ inch.
The bed, nightstand and stool are from Round Top. The bedding is by Mary Cates and Co., and the rug is wall-to-wall sea grass.
The bird artwork is from Z Gallerie.
Country Bathroom
Floral fabric and octagon and dot tile floor adds a country feel to the guest bathroom.
The wallpaper is by Nina Campbell and the sink is from Westside Kitchen and Bath.
Master Bedroom Paint Color
The paint color in the master bedroom was custom but very similar to Benjamin Moore Palladian Blue.
The leopard fabric on chair is by Kravet and the linens are Carleton V.
Bathroom
Wide plank hardwood floors were once again added to the bathroom but with a lighter stain to keep a soothing color scheme.
Planked walls and skirted vanities create a feminine feel to this room.
Bathroom Layout
A well-designed layout assures impressive country views from the bathtub.
Who wouldn’t love to spend some time in this bath with that view, right?!

Outdoors
Beautiful architectural elements add a timeless appeal to this farmhouse. Notice the metal roof, cupola, brick patio and the doors painted in turquoise.
Adjacent to the house and pool is this charming pool house.
Pool House
The pool house was designed with fun and entertain in mind.
Wet Toes
All the furniture was upholstered in outdoor furniture.
The floors are concrete. The drapes are burlap and works beautifully with the seagrass rug.
Pool House Guest Bedroom
You get happy just to see this bedroom. What a great color palette!
Art above fireplace is by Sugarloo.
Guest Bathroom
Classic details such as white marble and crystal knobs add beauty to the guest bathroom.
