Who doesn’t love seeing dramatics before-and-after kitchen renovation projects? This one is extra special because it features a double island and inspiring changes that can be useful to any homeowner.
The Before: According to the interior designer, Kate Marker Interiors,the old kitchen was stuck in the 90s with “warm golden oak cabinets, burgundy walls, a diagonal island with built-in cooktop and limited functional counter and eating space despite the open layout and generous square footage”.
The After: After going through a top-to-bottom renovation, this kitchen now features white raised panel cabinets with oil rubbed bronze hardware, white countertops (quartzite and granite) and blue backsplash tiles. A cooking nook features a stainless steel stove under a blue ceramic tile backsplash, flanked by pull out spice racks, and a concealed vent hood.
A pair of mirrored cylinder kitchen pendants hang over the side-by-side kitchen islands, with one island being used as a prep station and the secondary island used as a dining table.
As you will see, the kitchen layout was completely transformed after the remodel and it was designed to accommodate this family’s needs. By reconfiguring the space, the client got the work zone she always wanted and also enough eating space for her two little children with the second island.
It certainly pays off to plan your kitchen reno in advance!
Before-And-After Double Island Kitchen Renovation
This newly-renovated kitchen now features two very practical islands. One island is used as a prep station and the secondary island used as a dining area. Notice the gray nailhead benches.

The walk-in pantry was removed to allow for the eye-catching range and gorgeous backsplash tiles to become the new focal point of the kitchen.

The off-white wood cabinets were gently distressed. Notice the beautiful contrast created with the dark stained hardwood floors and island.

This kitchen offers plenty of cabinet storage, which includes a pantry cabinet located by the hutch.

This cabinet was beautifully designed with an arched bookcase, flanked by glass upper cabinets.

The artistic beveled subway backsplash tiles carry subdued greens and blues.

A farmhouse sink stands under a hook and spout faucet, placed under arched windows.
White Farmhouse Sink
A white farmhouse sink adds some crispness to the creamy white cabinets and blue tiled backsplash.
Perimeter Countertop
Honed quartzite counters on the perimeter cabinets are a soft complement to the blue backsplash.

Gorgeous kitchen cabinets with lattice wire mesh grille doors.
Counter Bench
Light and airy cabinets surround two islands in this kitchen. Wall paint color is Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore.
The island benches are from Lee Industries. In fact, the two counter benches are one of the designer favorite alternatives to traditional bar stools. They are customizeable, very comfortable and perfect if you have kids at home.
