By now, I am sure everyone is aware of the latest kitchen trend: navy cabinets! But the navy kitchen trend does not stop there, in fact, two-toned kitchens is the most requested kitchen trend in kitchen designing right now and nothing works better in a two-toned kitchen than the classic color combo white and navy.
When the husband and wife team, Syd and Shea McGee from Studio McGee, was hired to design this kitchen, they knew their new clients loved white kitchens, but what really surprised them was that they were open to adding some navy cabinetry as well. The decision was quite uncomplicated; “Benjamin Moore HC-154 Hale Navy” (a very popular navy paint color for kitchens) was used on the lower cabinets and kitchen island and “Benjamin Moore PM-1 Super White” (a crisp white) was chosen for the upper cabinets.
The designers came up with a plan to mix elements such as satin brass, rope and dark stained floors to add warmth and texture to this two-toned kitchen. The result was, as you will see, a kitchen reno that will stand the test of the time thanks to its charming setup.
Before and After Two-toned Kitchen Reno
Before: The old kitchen felt cramped, dark and had an awkward layout.

After: The new kitchen offers plenty of natural light, more space and a smart layout.
Two-toned Kitchen
This dreamy two-toned kitchen has plenty of personality and great ideas! I love the rope pendants and the satin brass faucet. The leather barstools add a hint of masculinity to this kitchen.
Kitchen Backsplash
This navy blue and white kitchen features 6×6 white tile backsplash.
Two-toned Kitchen Paint Color
The paint color in this two-toned kitchen is Benjamin Moore Hale Navy and Benjamin Moore Super White.
Walls and trim are also painted in Benjamin Moore Super White.
Countertop
Counters are Calacatta Marble.
Leather Barstools
The barstools are CB2 Roadhouse Leather Bar Stools. They’re sold for $399 each.
Kitchen Rope Pendants
Rope pendants are Palecek Green Oaks Pendant designed by Jeffrey Alan Marks.
Satin Brass Faucet
The satin brass faucet is East Linear 1500-5113 by Newport Brass. I’m in love! 🙂
Satin Brass Kitchen Hardware
The sleek brass pulls complement the stunning plank wood flooring. The stain brass hardware is COL-743-4 Colonial Bronze 4″ (102mm)c.c. Solid Brass Cabinet Pull (Satin Brass) from Hardware Hut.
Exposed
This kitchen also features counter-to-ceiling backsplash and open floating shelves. Notice the beautiful decor and color palette.

Use What You Have
Any wall can become a useful space if well designed. Here, the designer added a desk area to this kicthen by simply adding a small desk and a beautiful chair.
Clear Glass Globe Pendant Lighting
Pendant light is similar to “Mid Century Modern 10″ Globe Pendant Light – Clear Glass Globe – The Orbiter 10 with Brass Stem” by SanctumLighting – or – Alto Pendant by Cedar & Moss. $199
Dining Area
Space described by the designer: “We mixed natural wood tones with metal, texture and pattern, and streamlined with traditional”.
Hammered Iron Pendant Lights
The hammered iron pendant light is Currey & Company Currey and Company 9781 Saga 1 Light Pendant with Wrought Iron Bowl Shade Dark Blackened Steel.
Table
This transitional dining room features a Restoration Hardware Reclaimed Russian Oak Parsons Rectangular Dining Table and white Wishbone Chairs. Notice the butler’s pantry in the far back.
Navy Rug
An antique blue rug ties this room together.
