Impeccably designed for a family of five by Johnston Home LLC, this tailored family home is full of great interior ideas! The home takes advantage of California’s indoor outdoor flow by opening up to the yard through pocket doors and a bifold wall. This family home also features many personal touches including vintage furniture from the client’s family as well as vintage barnwood from the husband’s family farm. Modern lighting and a renovated kitchen keep the home fresh and current.
This kitchen is my latest inspiration! The island paint color is Benjamin Simply White and the gray cabinets were a custom color for the job.
Center island features icebox hardware and shaker doors.
The kitchen island dimensions are 14′ x 5′.
The Minaret Modern Glass Pendant Lights are from Niche Modern – $745 each.
Kitchen Ideas
Wall cabinets are blue grey with a vertical board detail. Below the zinc hood the designer added a marble backsplash. Island countertop is Statuario marble.
Kitchen hood was custom made from zinc by a local metal manufacturer. Similar hoods can be found through Vent-a-hood.
Floors are White Oak with an oil finish. Notice the sliding doors to the patio.
Breakfast Nook
I’m loving the splashes of turquoise in this breakfast nook. This cozy eating area, designed for a large family, combines modern and traditional elements. Custom window valance, modern pedestal table with a custom marble top and vintage Swedish chairs make this space feel unique and full of personality.
Notice the niche on the left side with open shelves.
Light fixture is from Clayton Gray.
Home Office
This home office, located just off the kitchen, acts as a control center for the family. Kids work on computers in open spaces, not in their rooms. The window seat is a sunbrella velvet for durability and the chairs swivel to ‘talk’ with the kitchen.
Room dimensions is 15 x 15.
Rug is from One Kings Lane.
Paint Color
Paint color is Benjamin Moore French Canvas.
Girls’ Bathroom
Paint Color: Benjamin Moore HC-149 Buxton Blue.
This bathroom features custom designed vanity in blue (Benjamin Moore HC-149 Buxton Blue) with glass knobs, bubble tile accent wall and floor and wallpaper above wainscot.
The wallpaper is available through Cowtan and Tout.
The bathroom is 5′ x 12′ with a 5′ vanity.
Master Bath
The master bathroom is a peaceful retreat with spa colors. The woodwork is painted a pale grey to pick up the veining in the marble. The mosaic tile behind the mirrors adds pattern. Built in side cabinets store everyday essentials. Brilliant!
The cabinet and trim are Benjamin Moore Light Pewter.
The mosaic tile backsplash is available from Artistic Tile.
Vanity Dimensions: The vanity is 9′ x 22″.
Tub Surround
The tub surround was detailed to include the wall mount faucet. Isn’t it elegant? The wall color is Benjamin Moore Palladian Blue.
Exterior Paint Color
Exterior paint color is Benjamin Moore Northwood Brown.
Patio
Bi-fold doors open to the entry and the living room giving this family a larger entertaining space when needed. The infra red heaters in the ceiling make this a year round space.
