I often find myself looking at homes and dreaming about how I would change them if they were mine, and it wasn’t any different when I saw this classic shingle home for sale.
Brilliantly designed by Anderson Campanella Architects, this shingle style home takes full advantage of its waterfront venue and the site’s environmental challenges. The design’s conception considered strict codes that led to a compound-style layout, which includes a freestanding garage and pool house that have been ordered to elegantly utilize the property. A variety of spaces draw interest to the river views, including the kitchen bay dining area. The dynamic layout also gives each room a unique feel, yet is united in a common historical, nautical theme.
The attention to detail and great open floor plan add to the beauty of this Hamptons style shore colonial home. From the front foyer with floating staircase and full wall recessed mouldings to the family room with French doors to an ipe deck with custom railings, this house embodies elegant living at its best.
Take a good look and let me know if you would spend the $4,195,000 asking price for this property.

Would you pay $4.2 mil for this home? Is it wrong for me to think this is a very fair price? I am getting use to see the insane prices of houses in Vancouver where you can’t find homes under one million anymore. In fact, old homes are selling for extravagant prices, breaking records and leaving only few rich and the rest struggling to live anywhere close to town. In another words, house pricing in the US seems to be more fairly controlled than in Canada.
Anyone feeling the same way around here?
