According to the interior designer, Elizabeth Lawson from Elizabeth Lawson Design, this was a true galley kitchen in an old home in the Roland Park neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. The space planning was a collaboration between the interior designer, architect, Ed Hord, and the clients. The designer and architect opened up part of the wall that separated the old kitchen and the dining room to create a peninsula. This really opened up the space and created a more open floor plan that better suits the young family who lives there. The designers wanted to strike the right balance between modern and traditional to create a truly fresh space and I think they have achieved their goal with this two-toned kitchen renovation.
Expect seeing plenty of brass in this two-toned kitchen! The brass pendants are Isaac 1 Light Pendant – Natural Brass from Schoolhouse Electric – $215.00 each.
The shaker style cabinets are custom.
Deep Grey
The lower cabinets are painted in a deep grey paint color – “Farrow and Ball Downpipe”.
The flooring is reclaimed hart pine. Isn’t it beautiful?
Loved Details
I love the brass hardware against the dark cabinets. The brass hardware is by Lewis Dolan.
The runner is a vintage Oushak.
Floating Shelves
The designer chose to use open shelves to the right of the window to further open up the space.
Kitchen Sconces
The sconces are Princeton Sophomore Sconce 2.25″ in Natural Brass from Schoolhouse Electric – $159.00 each.
Brass Faucet
The faucet, soap dispenser and hot water dispenser are the East Linear from Newport Brass. This is their Satin Brass finish.
The farmhouse sink is a 30″ Rohl.
Walls & Upper Cabinets Paint Color
The walls and upper cabinets are painted “Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White”.
The counter stools are CH56/58 Stool by Hans Wegner for Carl Hansen & Son available at Hive Modern – $1,015.00 each.
For the Love of Marble
The countertops and continuous backsplash are marble.
Kitchen Accessories
A few kitchen accessories bring color to this two-toned kitchen.
Right Fit
The Viking refrigerator fits perfectly in this kitchen.
Free Range
The range and hood are by Blue Star.

Today is a really happy day around here… my hubby and I are celebrating 13 years of marriage! Trust me… it feels so much more than that and I say this in a good way. We’ve got married quite young and we often joke that we’ve learned about life together and we still do. I feel that I can say anything to him because he gets me. Many people say that you should marry your best friend and I add to that — marry someone who can always make you laugh. My husband has the gift to see humor on situations you probably wouldn’t and this makes life feel lighter…
Even when the sky don’t seem to be very clear, he knows how to bring the sunshine back to my life.
