Note: I am sorry, my friends, but I had to repost this because the person that was supposed to send me this week’s “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” wasn’t able to. I honestly apologize. I hope you enjoy seeing this gorgeous home again and please come back tomorrow for a new post! 🙂
Since I started the blog newest series “Beautiful Homes of Instagram”, I’ve met a lot of great homeowners. Talented people that work hard to have their dream home, that do the best they can create a place where they can live with comfort and raise their family. When I first saw Jan Scarpino‘s kitchen on her feed, the feeling I had was of quietness. That kitchen grabbed my attention completely. Do you know when you see something online that almost makes you feel glued to the screen, your eyes are looking at every single detail and loving all of it? That’s exactly how I felt, but little did I know that the person who lives in that house is even more beautiful. Honestly speaking, featuring people like Jan on the blog makes me love my job and this series even more. Here you will see why:
“Hello friends, My name is Jan Scarpino! I was born and raised in Utah valley. My husband Danny and I have three beautiful babies. Gabby, Rohme and Nixon. We recently built a new home in Vineyard, near the lake. I fell in love with the serene view – the combination of the mountains and the water. It’s a safe and quiet place to raise a family and we really like the small town-farming feel; while keeping the convenience of being close to everything in the city.
Before becoming a stay at home mother, I was working as a hairstylist in a local salon. Now my days are filled with capturing joy in the everyday moments of motherhood, raising my sweet children; this always being my dream. Over the last couple years, I have developed a passion for interior design. I am hopeful that when the timing is right, and all my little people are in school, I will dabble in the industry. I get excited when thinking about the possibilities and opportunities that may come.
If you follow my Instagram, you’ll see that I like to share snippets of our home and family. I love sharing my own personal style and take on beauty. My favorite things to have on hand are fresh flowers; they are the perfect finishing touch. I never imagined that our home would get the attention that it has, or that I would have people reach out to me, asking if I could help them with design. Although I have no formal training or experience, I have great appreciation for the art and those who naturally have the touch for design. I like to share sources, inspirational spaces and collaborate with others on various projects.
I have always loved the antebellum styles from the South and like to use a mixture of contemporary and classic elements. I’m fond of large open spaces, wrap-around porches, places for people to gather, indoor-outdoor living spaces and big windows spilling in natural light. I like everything to feel light and airy. {I’m already scheming up ideas for our next build}. We chose a floor plan that felt open, as apposed to several different cut up rooms. This building process was so much work, but I have really enjoyed going through the experience and seeing everything through from the ground up.
We love our quite neighborhood, filled with young families and children. We were attracted to the area because it’s a newer development close to my husbands work. The city has many things planned for the area; bike trails, parks, pool, splash pad, movie theater, restaurants and shopping all while being close to the lake. It just seemed like a fun environment to be surrounding our kids. We have made some amazing friendships and lots of memories in these past few months being in our home. We are grateful to have a place to call our very own. This may not be our forever home, but we are grateful for where we are in this stage of life, always hopeful for improvement.
My favorite room in our home is the kitchen. I love that it always cheers me up walking into the space. I designed it to be bright and calming. I love cooking for my family and sharing meals & conversations. It’s the space where we all like to gather. I wish to always remember these days, while my children are still little, every meal & snack is dear to me.
I am very flattered to be featured on Home Bunch Beautiful Homes of Instagram series, I feel inspired by the many lovey women sharing this same opportunity. Those of you who can balance it all, work, creating and up keeping a beautiful home, all while being a mother/wife most importantly. I hope my feed promotes positivity and inspires. I strive to be a collector of happy!”

You are positively correct….Jan’s kitchen is an absolute dream! It is definitely one of my yop fav kitchens of Instagram, and what I love is it isn’t huge! She has used an average size space so well and so beautifully.
I also adore many of her lighting choices. That Darlana lantern…is it ever wrong?!
I am basking in the glow of these beautifully changing leaves here too, Luciane! This is one of the few times a year I am happy to live where we experience Fall- the text of the time I wish I lived in the South!
