I have featured Jordan’s kitchen, from @house.becomes.home, on Home Bunch around last Christmas because I was so inspired by the renovation she had just completed, and I am so happy to have her back here again to share all of the changes she had done to her entire home the last couple of months.
Jordan is one of the few people I often check to see if she has a new picture because I know that she never disappoints! In this post you will see every room and get all of the details about the reno. Trust me, you will love this Beautiful Homes of Instagram.
Hello my name is Jordan from @house.becomes.home I am beyond excited to be featured as one of the Beautiful Homes of Instagram. I think I actually jumped up and down and squealed a bit when Luciane asked me to contribute to this amazing series. I feel so honored and humbled to be alongside so many beautiful homes and talented people.
I started on my Instagram journey about a year ago. I was looking for a place where I could share my obsession with home design. When I first joined I never thought in a million years that people would actually like what I shared or designed let alone follow me! The home décor community on Instagram was just so supportive and kind that it made extremely easy to feel right at home. Once I started sharing my home I just couldn’t stop! I had found my happy place a place where I belonged and found other people who shared my same passion.
My husband and I had been looking to move for quite a while. We wanted to have a bigger yard for our three growing children. I happened to be on a walk and saw a house for sale in our current neighborhood that was at the end of a cul-de-sac. I was instantly intrigued because being at the end of a cul-de-sac has been a dream of ours since having kids. So I ran, ok I walked, home and told my husband, who is a real estate broker, to look the house up on the multiple listings site. He did and it was in our price range! We went immediately to take a look at the house. The first thing we did was go into the backyard. It was huge! I was sold! Unfortunately, that huge yard was nothing but a lot of dirt and nothing had been done to it, but I could see the potential. I really didn’t need to see the inside to know I wanted this house but my husband insisted we look. The inside was outdated and had very cheap finishes. The house had five bedrooms and a whooping seven bathrooms! Still I could see the potential this house had. My husband on the other hand needed some convincing. Luckily I convinced him and we got the house!
We closed on the house quickly and immediately got to work. Luckily for us I have many talented people in my family. My uncle and his son are two of the best contractors I know and they agreed to help us remodel our new house.
Demo took about 7 days and I mean we demoed almost everything! By the end of day 7 we had removed the entire kitchen, laundry room, all the flooring, every bathroom including taking one bathroom out completely, remember I told you there were seven, and tore down a wall that divided the living room and kitchen. Now we had renovated some houses in our past but nothing like this. I remember walking through the house after it had been destroyed, for a lack of better words, and having a wave of panic come over me. I thought what in the world had I done! How are we going to finish all this? We had just put our home we were living in on the market what if that sold fast, which it did! I really started to second guess myself on if this was the right decision for our family. It was a very scary feeling.
Eventually I had to push those fears aside and just get to work. The next six months my cousin, uncle and me lived and breathed the renovation of our home. It was very stressful and fun all at the same time. I loved that I got to pick out every detail of our new home. I even got to design my dream kitchen! My crazy talented cousin built all my cabinetry in the house. We made a great team. I designed it and he built it. It took a total of six months to complete the inside. Two of those months we unfortunately had to live in the house. Those were two long months!
So here we are today living in our beautiful home and enjoying life on a cul-de-sac. Now we just have to get our backyard finished! Wish us luck!
A bright foyer welcomes you as soon you enter the house. The paint color is Porous Stone by Dunn Edwards, matched by Sherwin Williams.

I wanted an open white kitchen with a large island. My previous kitchen had dark cabinets and no island. So those two things were a must. We added a second sink in the kitchen which is now my main sink. I absolutely love having a produce/prep sink on the island.
Cabinets are custom built maple painted in Simply White by Benjamin Moore.
I wanted a classic design so I was going to use subway tile as our backsplash, but I fell in love with the Braga Classic tile from Merola Tile.

Once we removed the wall that divided the living room and kitchen the house felt twice as big. It was the best decision I made. We added wainscoting and millwork throughout the main living areas. I just love the extra detail and character it gives a home.
I love these gorgeous mud cloth pillows. They’re from @onefinenest.
The console table is from World Market. Lamps are from HomeGoods and vase is from Target.

The bathroom was an outdated mess! It had white ceramic tile countertops and a big rectangular bath tub that took up half the bathroom. I always wanted a free standing tub so when I saw the opportunity I jumped at it. I tried to keep the bathroom neutral and classic.
