Hello, everyone. It’s great to start this brand new week with you here! Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy seeing this inspiring “Beautiful Homes of Instagram”.
Today, I have the pleasure to have Jessica Dolan of @2540loveandco. Jessica and her husband have completely renovated their 70’s home to accommodate their busy family style. Jessica is an interior designer and they also have an online shop with a very important goal: “Inspired by Matthew 25:40, Tom and Jessica Dolan have brought together their passion for creating beautiful spaces and a conviction to help people in need. The Dolans believe each of us has unlimited potential to change the world through small acts of kindness and expressions of gratitude. In collaboration with their favorite charities, they serve the ‘least of these’ around the world by donating a portion of all proceeds from 25:40 love. “
Here, the homeowner shares more about her beautiful home:
When Luciane first asked me if I would like to be featured on her beautiful blog, I was flattered. I’m honored to be among all the lovely homes of Instagram that provide so much inspiration for me.
Upon first seeing this 1970s home, we knew we wanted to make major changes. We took it down to the studs, opening up all the main living areas, adding a powder bath and master suite in place of two main floor bedrooms with one shared hall bath. We started with a neutral base of traditional materials and layered with texture and pattern.
I hope you enjoy seeing all of the details below! 🙂
Interior Design: Jessica Dolan, 25:40 love
Location: Bowling Green, KY

All the interior walls were removed in the living room. White shiplap replaced drywall to create a neutral backdrop while providing interest and texture. We chose a natural fiber rug layered with a vintage rug, a pair of leather sofas and a custom built coffee table for this space. We layered buffalo check, mudcloth and other patterned pillows on the sofas which provide visual interest (and comfort) without being too matchy-matchy.
House Size/Year Built: 3000 sq ft, 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths. The house was built in 1971.
Ceiling Light: Rejuvenation.
The front door was changed to a 4 light wooden door to allow as much natural light as possible. The coat closet was removed allowing more space in the master suite located on the other side of the wall. The carpeted stairs and wooden handrail were removed and replaced with white oak hardwood treads finished with a custom European oil finish and custom metal railing. A door was added under the stairs to take advantage of the storage space.
Foyer Mirror: Target
Lighting: Schoolhouse.
The white shiplap walls, custom finished white oak flooring and Carrara marble are both pretty and practical and are carried throughout the entire home.
The paint color is Benjamin Moore Super White PM-1. Notice that breathtaking country view!
Textiles including natural fiber, cowhide and vintage rugs, mud cloth, buffalo check, and patterned pillows completed the look.
Leather sofas are from RH.
A custom stair railing and custom built-ins with sconces added a distinctive element.
The thoughtfully-chosen cabinetry colors, classic square subway tile, modern brass hardware and custom white oak floating shelving bring a bit of fun and whimsy to this classic kitchen.
This two-toned kitchen features a custom shiplap hood and shaker cabinets.
Countertop is Carrara marble.
Kitchen Pendants: Schoolhouse.
Cabinet Hardware: Lew’s.
Breadboards + Cutting Boards: 25:40 love
Upper and pantry cabinets are painted in Benjamin Moore Super White.
Rug: Vintage.
Hardwood Flooring: Custom.
Counterstools: West Elm.
Backsplash is a 6×6 square subway tile.
We wanted everything to stay light and bright throughout the home but didn’t necessarily want an all white kitchen. We chose navy for the custom built base cabinetry and honed Carrara marble countertops. Lower cabinets and island: Benjamin Moore Hale Navy.
Kitchen Sconces: Schoolhouse.
There was no true pantry in the kitchen so after eliminating the wall between the kitchen and dining we opted for a whole wall of pantry cabinets in the dining space. A Mitchell Gold Bob Williams pendant, a round white oak table and easily wipeable white All Modern chairs were chosen for this space.
The shaker cabinets extend to the breakfast nook. Cabinets are Benjamin Moore OC-152 Super White.
Pendant: MGBW.
Table: 2540 Love.
Dining Chairs: All Modern.
In the sitting room, we chose 4 swivel arm chairs in a sturdy linen weave fabric, a round, marble top coffee table and a cowhide rug.
In this space we removed all the walls and added custom built ins painted the same white as the shiplap throughout.
Opening up all the main living spaces was ideal for this family of five and allowed us to incorporate functionality and the beauty of natural light. Each zone was created to flow right into the next allowing conversation to carry from space to space.
Coffee Table & Cowhide Rug: 25:40 love
Swivel chairs: West Elm – no longer available
We layered a vintage rug in the office space and added a custom made desk with West Elm office chair.
The White Oak mantel was custom-designed by the homeowner and it looks great against the painted brick.
We replaced the fireplace mantle with a custom built raw white oak mantle and painted the brick fireplace the same white – BM Super White.
The powder room features dark navy walls, painted in Benjamin Moore HC-145 Hale Navy, and brass accents.
The master suite boasts an upholstered sleigh bed with white linen bedding topped off with a striped wool pompom blanket purchased at a local boutique.
Bed is from West Elm.
Vintage Pillows: 2540 Love
The Carrara marble hexagon floor tile used throughout the bathroom and shower add dimension and texture to this serene space. Classic Rejuvenation hardware and mirrors were chosen to mix metals and compliment the brass chandelier and sconces.
