Are you looking to give your living room an updated look but don’t have a big budget to work with? And are you aiming for something creative and unique? While there is nothing wrong with a room looking like it has come straight out of a modern décor magazine, that’s just not everyone’s cup of tea. For many homeowners, a rustic, more natural vibe is what they crave when designing the spaces in their homes. Rustic often translates to comfortable and welcoming, which is exactly how you want a house to feel.
Here we’ll take a look at ways you can use upcycled pallets in your living room in order to create a design that is creative, unique, rustic, and exactly what you had in mind.
Looking to find just the right balance between chic and rustic? Then a great place to start with the upcycled pallets is with a custom-made pallet couch. Pallets can make a perfect couch frame, especially if you’re going for more of that casual almost futon-like feel. You can then choose a dense foam, specifically made for couches, and cover it in whatever material you like. Not only will the couch be comfortable, it will also look amazing.
Coffee tables are another great use of these pallets. Remember, you don’t have to use the shape they come in; you can disassemble them and create anything you want. Not only that, but you can stain the wood and end up with a piece that looks pretty expensive and unique.
For anyone who has a large sized TV and a fair amount of electronics, the question becomes how and where to place them all in the room? Obviously, you want to find a way that doesn’t make them look like such an eyesore, but the mass-made entertainment centers can be so bulky and rather predictable.
Why not use a combination of pallets and other materials to create a custom-made entertainment center? Pallets can work great as shelving as well as structural material. At least pallets can make the space feel more cohesive if you’ve already used them in other areas.
A great way to really pull the look together and make those pallets feel as though they are part of the overall design is to continue that natural and rustic vibe throughout your entire home.
For example, choose natural looking materials that feature different textures and colors that you would find in nature, such as the natural thin stone veneer sold by Kafka Granite. This type of stone veneer is perfect for flooring, tiles, and countertops. You can choose from almost 60 different colors of natural stone mixed with recycled material so you can really customize the final look.
The more you start to play around with pallets and design various pieces with them, the more versatile they become. In fact, you may want to start using them in other areas of your home as well.
