It’s that great time of the month where I proudly have my “Guest Picks” at Houzz! This month I’m talking about “Cozy and Stylish Family Rooms.” A tribute to our favorite shows that are finally back and we know we’ll spend more time curling up in our family room watching all of them!
I’ve picked 20 family room essentials and I really hope you guys can drop by to see them and leave a comment if you can. I think you’ll enjoy this one!

And now, to our Post of the Day:
Is grey the new black? Well, when it comes to design I think it will be. If you’ve been reading interior magazines or reading blogs around the net, you’re probably aware that grey is very in right now. I often say that I don’t change my decor for the sake of any trend, but I do add some trendy things if I love them.
Grey is really a great color to use in our house. Honestly I can’t use it everywhere but I wanted to share this house to show you how good grey can look! As with everything else, balance is key to achieve a well designed place.
Enjoy!
Living Room
This home has gorgeous furniture and accessories, many found in flea markets. I love the horizontal wall panels and the beams.
Tick Tock
This dining room feels rustic and industrial.
Abcs You and Me
Found it at a flea market, the owner uses it as smart storage.
Red Chair
These strong elements coexist smoothly.
Freedom
Fill your house with poetry.
Kitchen
This kitchen is tiny but charming.
Yes Mix, No Match
The tolix chairs and the cinema antique chairs are interesting details added to the eating area.
Smart Attic
I love this sewing station located in the attic.
Clever
The other side of the room.
Bedroom
I love the combination of natural materials in this bedroom and how light it feels.
Bathroom
A white curtain runs the length of the vanity to hide storage placed below. Chic and feminine.
Are you loving gray a little more? Is it a color you’d add to your home? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this house and about this new trend.
I’d like to thank you guys that always leave me a comment telling me your thoughts on my posts. I read every single of them and I appreciate your opinion. It’s always so fun to know what you’re thinking and if you’re enjoying it. Before I had this blog, I rarely left a comment, I never knew how important they are to the blogger. For me, it’s not about how many comments I’m getting because that doesn’t really mean much when it comes to numbers of people who are visiting, but for me what really matter is knowing you’re having fun and participating. It’s so cool to feel the blog alive with what you have to say, actually that’s the real thing, it’s with comments that we feel the energy of a blog. So, I thank every single one of you that drops me a note. They always make me think, laugh and feel that I know you a little better.
Have a really peaceful and safe day.
xo

Great pictures. But I have a feeling this is in England or Europe somewhere – those wonderful old timbers are a giveaway. Am I right? Those old timber framed cottages are always my favorite, but you don’t see them like that in the US! Good decorating inspiration even without the lovely old beams, though.
Congrats on the post!! Its fantastic and looooove this gray post. I love all things gray AND black, so this is right up my alley!! Beautiful!
I have just discovered your blog and I love it!!
Beautiful images of decorating with greys. I follow.
I wear more grey than I have in my home. This beautiful post shows me grey in a new light. I love these images.
A footnote: I couldn’t comment on Houzz. I tried.
Hi Luciane, I’ve been missing in action for the last few weeks and catching up now….ok I painted my bedroom grey a few years ago, thinking it is such a neutral color…but it just didn’t work for us..i’m too much a yellow person, a warmy, not a coldy kind of gal…but I love looking at these pictures, it’s soothing on paper just not in my house….great post girlfriend!
Reminds me of our first house! Our livingroom was a charcoal gray with an angelstone fireplace! When my neighbour at the time saw the color I was painting on the wall, he said, “Oh my, Karen, this takes courage!” lol Wonderful place.
i have so warmed to gray and all it’s variations. love the rustic/industrial of the dining room in particular. the gray beams in the sewing room……well, easy to love!

You picked a great exampe of how grey can look cozy and warm…beautiful!
I love grey (except when it’s in my hair!), and I wear grey cardigans with white shirts ALOT. I think grey works best when crisp white is next to it, and most of the images have that combination – great post again Luciane x
Absolutely loved your picks on Houzz and gosh, all this grey is so gorgeous and autumnly! I adore the old red chair with the warm grey painted desk (5th image).
