Happy New Year, my wonderful and loyal friends. It’s 2021! It’s finally 2021!!! How many of us have waited for this year to arrive, right?! I am sending and welcoming as much positive energy along with plenty of love, health and prosperity to each and every one of us! May this year be one of the best years of our lives!
I am extremely happy to start the year sharing the work of one of my favorite builders and designers, Julie Howard for Timber Trails Development Company. Here, the designer explains her inspiration for this new and happy home:
“The inspiration behind our Timber Trails Nautical Navy were the kitchen cabinets. The line of navy just came out in Aristokraft cabinetry line and it was a beautiful navy that I had to use. It has a lot of green in it which gives it the warmth. Everyone is asking me what the exact color is but I don’t know. We take the cabinet to the paint store and have them match it for anything we did that was navy.”- Julie Howard for Timber Trails Development Company.

Walls are in Benjamin Moore Classic Gray. This is the designer’s go-to neutral paint color! Doors are in a custom paint color to match the navy kitchen cabinets.

“The big focal point of this kitchen is the V-groove hood. We made it on-site. The other big focal point is the bar area complete with floating white oak shelves we also made on site. I love the use of V-groove paneling on both. We also used this paneling in the pantry.” – Julie Howard
Backsplash – “Subway Tile with Whisper Grey Grout – I never use white grout on a kitchen backsplash. Even if I want an all white look. It generally reads very much bathroom when you use white grout. If I want the backsplash to be light and airy, I use the lightest grey grout, Whisper Grey.” – Julie Howard.

“We’ve been using so many light colors lately that it was so fun to use a dark bold color in a primary room like a Family Room. I love how it looks against the white trim and white sofas. There are so many windows and large openings into the room that there was enough of a break of the blue to make it work. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I think I’ll still use a light neutral like our traditional Benjamin Moore Classic Grey in the main areas of the house, but I will be incorporating more color and darker hues into living areas whenever I can.” – Julie Howard
