We all want our home to have an element of luxury. Those subtle touches that set it apart from your everyday home décor. But can you do it without blowing your budget? Luxury living doesn’t always mean a complete makeover – you can find a little luxury with just a few simple touches.
Here’s how.
Blinds
Your window dressings are a great place to start. Rather than simply going for the anything will do, focus on practicality, with just a little more it’ll be pure luxury. Opting for made-to-measure soft fabric roman blinds for example will ensure your home’s interiors look stunning and of course luxurious. They’ll fit your windows perfectly, offer privacy, and control the light as well as looking great.
Throw Some Light In
Just a little light makes everything look bigger, and the clever use of it such as wall-up lighters, freestanding lamps and table lamps can add a touch of luxury to any home. To really find a luxurious look, light should be soft and gentle and enhance the room rather than leaving you in the dark.
Mirrors
This is another great way to create light in spaces where it may have been lacking before. Mirrors reflect both natural and unnatural light, instantly making a room look and feel bigger. It’s not just about placing your mirror anywhere in the home, you need to get strategic. Try locating it near a window or in places where space is usually lacking. A large mirror in the hall can do wonders when first stepping into a home.
Time to Get a Little Arty
A home full of art instantly screams luxury living. Whilst you’re not able to dress your walls with Monet or Banksy, you can still find some great bargains to give that luxury feel. Photography is huge right now, so is contemporary art. Rather than heading to the same bog-standard homeware shops with the rest of the world, look a little further. Pop to that hip art gallery down the road. It may set you back a little more, but it will instantly create a bit of individuality. Putting your home right in the luxury bracket.
Spruce Up Your Bed
Is there anywhere in the home more luxurious than the bedroom? Soft pillows, clean sheets and the perfect bed. If you feel like your bed needs a bit of updating to recapture that luxury feel, but you can’t afford a new headboard or completely new bed simply opt for some new bedding. You’d be surprised just how much difference some Egyptian cotton can make.
Enjoy your day!

Wonderful post Lucaine and I agree you don’t have to spend a lot to make a change. I like making simple slipcovers to go over our headboard for a change when I change the bedding out from winter to summer.
