Is 40 the right time for a facelift? It certainly was for this bathroom. We already know that kitchens and bathrooms are, by far, the most renovated spaces in a home and they are that for a good reason. A home with an updated kitchen and bathrooms will have its value increase, and not to mention that they will be more functional and pleasant on the eyes.
Today, I have the pleasure to share yet another outstanding bathroom renovation by my dear friend, interior designer Mary Joseph of Mary Joseph Interiors. As you will soon see, she completely transformed this 40+ bathroom into a dreamy spa-like space. Now, if only she could do to my almost 40 y/o self what she did to this bathroom! LOL 🙂

“This client reached out to me wanting help with their 44 year old bathroom. It was very small, it lacked functionality, and it was very dated. It also lacked much needed storage space. It didn’t take me long to know all of the things that I wanted and needed to do, in order to transform their bathroom.”
“The original entry door was small, and it opened up right into the toilet. Adding french doors was the perfect solution. They were not only beautiful, and the perfect size for the new bath, but they also now hide the toilet when you walk in. The perfect example of what I call: fashion meets function! :)” – Mary Joseph
Ceiling: Tongue and groove look painted same white as trim.
Curtains: Emery Linen Blackout Curtain.
“Their vanity before was way too small, too short, and the doors underneath were recessed in, so there was very little storage.” – Mary Joseph
“I knew a larger vanity was a must, and removing the linen closet and taking a little square footage from the master bedroom allowed me to give them a 9 ft long, 3 ft high vanity, with tons of storage.”- Mary Joseph

“I wanted to give them a modern European inspired bathroom. I decided to go with a very neutral creamy color palette to give the room a soothing look. I chose black for the vanity and doors because it is a perfect neutral and it allowed for the beautiful quartz counters and polished nickel hardware to stand out more.” – Mary Joseph
Mirrors: Home Depot – They come in brass. The designer spray painted them black.
Sconces: Savoy House Monroe Single Light 20″ Tall Wall Sconce.
Trim Paint Color: Benjamin Moore White Dove.
Faucets: Kingston Brass, Polished Nickel.
Hardware: Pulls.
Countertop: 3cm Quartz.
Vanity: 9 ft custom- paint-grade maple.
French Doors and Vanity Paint Color: Sherwin Williams SW 6258 Tricorn Black.
The wall between the tub and toilet made this bathroom feel smaller and darker.
