If you’ve read Home Bunch for a while you probably know that I favor shingle homes. Living on the east coast for many years and seeing so many beautiful single Cape Cods has influenced my architectural preferences greatly and featuring Chell’s home on this series feels quite natural. She and her husband have designed and built this inspiring home and they’re here today to share all of the details with you. I am sure you will love their home as much as I do!
Welcome to our home! My name is Chell and I am lucky to do what I love with my husband Chad, working together as a design build team @cambridgehomecompany.
We are thrilled to be a part of Luciane’s Beautiful Homes of Instagram series. We began our Instagram journey not long ago, sharing much of our personal home, client projects, and what inspires us daily. Never would we have imagined that sharing our passion and love for style, décor and building would bring us to this point in our lives, and we feel blessed to be sharing our home with you today.
Living by the design motto, ‘Thoughtful designs for everyday living’ we believe that every home should be beautifully lived in and that every space should serve a purpose.

When building our home, we were drawn to a classic Nantucket, Cape Cod style. Pouring over the details, a large porch to sit and visit with friends and neighbors while we could gaze up to enjoy the sunlit Utah Wasatch Mountains was a must in our plans.

The yard landscape has only recently become my canvas, after finding my second passion in designing and planting all things beautiful I have come to enjoy it more and more each season.
Favorite plants include: Delphinium, English Laurels, Boxwoods, Alliums, Lilies of the Valley, Peonies, Wisteria, Hydrangeas, and Roses, which can all be found in my garden beds.
When it came time to selecting the exterior details, we knew we wanted to give our home depth, texture and dimension. We used real cedar wood shingle to give our home that authentic feel, and to accent the cedar we added custom designed traditional trim moldings to the window trim and post details.

To keep our kitchen from being too exposed we chose a pass through style, to allow for privacy from the gathering room. We designed the space knowing we would need a walk in pantry but wanting to keep the feel of the doors to the pantry in line with the open airy style of the home, we had custom built a paneled door with frosted glass.
The pass through from the kitchen leads to our laundry. Adding a custom built barn door freed up space as one passes from kitchen to laundry.

The breakfast nook sits just off of the family gathering room serves as a second gathering spot for our family. The windows fill with the afternoon sunlight, lighting the space as we enjoy making memories around the dinner table.
For Christmas, Chad made me a custom height side table to also serve as housing for some of our beautiful dishes and trays we wanted displayed. I also wanted a chalkboard where I could add lettering for parties and holidays, this has been one of my favorite areas of the home to style and decorate with.
