It’s so wonderful to start a new week with a new Beautiful Homes of Instagram! This truly is one of my favorite posts to prepare because I feel we can learn so much with these talented homeowners and having them here is truly an honor. I also want to give them all the credit I can because each and every homeowner featured on the Beautiful Homes of Instagram works really hard to prepare their homes for this feature. Many of them work on this for months, not only getting their home ready but also collecting all the information and taking the pictures. I truly could not be more grateful and it’s no different with Jennifer of @thegracehouse. She is kindly sharing so many pictures and details of her home that I know will teach you something new. Get to know Jennifer, her home, and get inspired!
Hi, I’m Jennifer. Just a little about me; first of all, I’m an interior design addict. Always have been. As a child, I designed rooms out of cardboard boxes. I was constantly rearranging my mom’s living room, den, china cabinet, bathroom accessories, you name it. This didn’t always make her too happy, but luckily for me, she gave me free reign over my own bedroom. I don’t even know how many times I painted it, wallpapered it, rearranged the furniture, changed the bedding, etc. What a sweet mama! Having said that, it probably comes as no surprise that I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design. I worked as a senior designer at a couple of large residential design firms before going out on my own. After my daughter was born, I became a stay at home mom. Now that my daughter is a bit older, I’ve found that I’m able to reconnect again with my passion for interior design, although in different ways than before, as my full time job is still staying home with her.
I’m a Texas gal. As they say, I wasn’t born here, but I got here as fast as I could. I’ve been married to my college sweetheart for 12 years! I seriously can’t believe it’s been that long! He’s seriously the best, and I feel so blessed to have him in my life. We have a little girl who is five years old, and she’s a little strawberry blonde ray of sunshine! I love being her mommy! A few of my other loves, in no particular order, include my sweet Jesus, family, friends, photography, drawing, antique shops, old books, chai tea lattes, travel, nature (I love being outside!), musicals, concerts, design magazines, naps, shopping for my home, planning birthday parties, and date nights.
My design style is very classic, and I like to add rustic and farmhouse touches here and there. I love the texture and warmth that they bring to a space. I also love light neutrals. I think they make a home feel bright, clean, and airy. As you will see, that is how I’ve chosen to decorate our home.
We moved into our new house about two and a half years ago. Coventry Homes was our builder. We chose them because we love the beautiful, quality homes that they build. We also really liked how they were very flexible with letting us make changes to our floor plan and really customize our home to fit our family’s needs. It took about seven months to build our home, but luckily the couple that bought our previous home allowed us to lease the home back until our new one was finished, so we were able to go from our previous home straight into our new one. No apartment living!
Since we built our home from the ground up, we were able to choose all of the finishes for both the interior and exterior. I’ve been really amazed at how much there can be to do, even in a new home! I started sharing photos of my progress on Instagram, which got a response that I never would have imagined. The world can be a messy and chaotic place, and life can be stressful and hectic, so I think home should be a haven, a place that feels safe and warm and inviting. It should be a place filled with the love and grace of our sweet Jesus, hence the name “The Grace House“.

When choosing a layout, it was very important to us that the house have an open floor plan. I love how everyone feels included that way. I can be in the kitchen cooking and still feel connected to what’s going on in the living room. Our last house had a kitchen that was completely closed off from the living room, and I hated it because it made me feel excluded. Having my family together is very important to me. I also love the two story entry and living room. It gives a grand feel to the house, and the two story windows let in lots of natural light.

Beautiful home – full of inspiration! I love the mantle and overmantle in the living room. Would Jennifer @thegracehouse be willing to share the source?
