I am truly happy to be featuring Angie’s home of @houseonprairielane on our popular “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” series. Her home feels welcoming and pretty without being cluttered, which I am truly into these days. Being a family of five, I feel that it’s so easy to accumulate things but seeing a home like Angie’s inspires me and I hope it inspires you as well.
Here she tells us more about her trajectory on designing and building her home:
“Hello! My name is Angie, from @houseonprairielane and I am so very honored and super excited to be featured here, on Home Bunch! I started my blog during the exciting time of building our new home. My husband, Pete, a man of MANY trades.. designed + drew up the plans, was the general contractor, and did the majority of the actual work himself. I always say that this home is a true labor of love.. from start to finish! It was definitely a long process, but looking back, it really was so much fun!
Fast forward to exactly one year, and our house finally feels like home! It took us many, many months to add the finishing touches.. things like pictures on the walls, rugs on the floors, and details, like throw pillows and window treatments. We still have a few projects to work on, but I thought I would share some of the rooms that are complete and that we absolutely LOVE!

To say I spend a lot of time in this space is an understatement! I LOVE to cook, and as a stay at home mom, I am in the kitchen preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner.. along with several snacks throughout the day. I knew from the very beginning that I wanted white cabinets with honed marble countertops.. and I absolutely LOVE both details. Another favorite of mine, is extending the kitchen cabinets to the ceiling. It was a last minute decision, but one that I know I will never regret!

Gathering around the dinner table each day is very important to our family, and a tradition we hope to always carry. I love the design of black windsor chairs, and think they look so beautiful with the mango wood dining table. But I have to say that my absolute favorite detail of this space, is the gorgeous wood pieces that my husband created! Our air plants + wine bottles are displayed so beautifully. I’m not sure how I found someone so talented in everything he does, but I sure am lucky!

In the Living Room, there are many details that I adore, but one of my most favorite is the navy shiplap on either side of the fireplace. It was definitely a bold decision, but one that we absolutely LOVE!

This bedroom far exceeded my love for a neutral color palette, but I absolutely LOVE the bright colors + vibrant details so much! When we first began building our home, Chloe (our oldest daughter – 7 years old) wanted a ‘Fairy Garden’ Bedroom. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, until I found this amazing (carved) headboard! I watched for it to go on sale for almost a year, and finally scored a really great deal! I then found the playful colored quilt, and all the remaining details just came into place. Chloe loves her bedroom, and I love walking into such cheerful + fun space.. something that definitely matches her personality.

I originally had a vision to create this space as a ‘Woodland Wonderland’ theme, but once our feisty girl (our youngest, Capri) turned three, she had her mind made up that SHE wanted a ‘Ballerina Bedroom’ with all things PINK! I had so much fun searching for all the tiny details, and my absolute favorite is the gallery wall that we created. It really is the prettiest wall in our home, and Capri adores it all! She is definitely our tutu wearing, all things sparkly + shimmery kind of girl.. and I LOVE that! It is definitely a stage that I cherish, and want to hold onto for as long as I can.

This space is my private little sanctuary and each time I step into my bathtub or shower (not pictured), I feel like I’m at the spa. I knew as soon as we started to build, that I wanted our Master Bathroom to be a peaceful and relaxing escape. I love how beautiful the chandelier looks above the bathtub, and the champagne bronze faucets add a pretty touch.
