“Hello! I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Karmin from @littlehiddenforest. Home Bunch has been an incredible source of knowledge and inspiration since we began our custom home journey a few years ago and I am so honored to be a part of the “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” series!
A few years ago our little family of four stumbled upon a beautiful wooded neighborhood only a few minutes away from where we lived. The moment we entered we knew that it would be the perfect location to build the dream home to raise our children. It took 3 lot holds before we were led to our home land. The process began with our contractor, Brook, from Parent Custom Homes. We wanted to build a home around how we live our daily life with open and intentional spaces perfect for our entire family.
We have been living in our home for about seven months and we are truly enjoying every space we have created!
I define our home style as a modern mountain farmhouse. This is a home that is artfully ours and filled with all the elements that make home feel like home.”
“The exterior was a compromise between my husband and I! He has this thing for peeks and he was determined to have 7 to signify luck and harmony. I wanted white… He wanted contrast… I like straight lines… He likes curves! My favorite element is the black board and batten, which accents the long staircase window. Double front doors open into a large Foyer with two-story ceilings. The front doors are 8’ tall fiberglass doors with a custom Sherwin Williams gel stain.

We cook and host frequently so we have every kitchen gadget imaginable. The kitchen is truly the heart of our home and we spend most of our time surrounding the kitchen island. “We went with a Carrara Light Quartz countertop. I love this particular quartz because it looks similar to marble with no maintenance. We wanted a durable countertop in the kitchen that will remain classic over time. Using quartz also allowed for a large seamless slab.”

“I like to keep my countertops clutter free so we created a butler pantry to hide all the small appliances. You can see we designed a coffee bar in the pantry with a bar sink. This sink overlooks the sport court so I can peek on the kids as they play from the main level!”

“As you can see, we did not hold back on space and storage in our mudroom. This is the “Grand Central Station” to our home. From book bags to snow pants and boots everything gets dropped on the concrete oblong hex tiled floors.”

I love that this part of our home feels like you’re climbing into a tree house. “The basement is truly a space to have fun and play! From a bar to indoor swings there is no lack of excitement. The room opens to a rec room and gaming space. The double sliding doors allow for a flood of natural light and opens to outdoor entertaining.”
