Hello, my wonderful friends! How are you today? I hope everything is good in your life and everyone is healthy, after all, that’s fundamental in our lives.
From time to time I like to, very carefully, select some talented homeowners I find on Instagram to feature on our “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” series. I have learned a lot since I have started this series back in 2016. I have learned that having a beautiful home isn’t enough for me. The homeowner’s personality and taste must be reflected in each space and, unfortunately this is quite rare these days. Homes on Instagram have become showrooms and that’s not something I am interested showcasing in this series. I want you to feel throughout the post that the house truly feels like a home and it reflects the homeowners’ real personality because this is the type of home you create for yourself; a home where you feel welcomed and comforted by every room.
Today’s “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” reflects everything I have mentioned above and more, much more. Kathy’s home, of @r.house__ (make sure to follow her!), has her personality stamped in each corner, in each detail, and you can’t help but feel embraced by her taste and choices. This is a home with soul and it certainly reflects its homeowner’s taste and lifestyle. Here, Kathy shares more details:
“Hi there! My name is Kathy Rich, and I am so happy to share with you my home today. A homebody by nature, my home is incredibly important to me, and I believe mine is a true product of labor, and love. I hope that translates in the photos, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to showcase it here on Home Bunch, the home of design inspiration for so many.
When people ask me to describe my style, I never quite know what to say. So many styles are appealing to me. But I suppose I best fit into the French Farmhouse style, with an eclectic mix of old and new furnishings, decor, refinished, customized, store bought, and lot’s of naturals! My European influence is very apparent in my gardens, greenhouse, and all of curvy and distinct furnishings throughout the home. I will be sharing with you just about all the rooms (excluding my bathrooms and a study that is very hard to shoot due to the angle), and exterior spaces in my home. So you are about to see a lot of custom furnishings, woodwork, and finishes, as our home has been completely, designed, styled, and built by us.”
I hope you enjoy the tour!
“Our journey to create the home of our dreams, started over twenty years ago when we found a home in a small town just north of Boston, Massachusetts. The small, and quiet suburb, had great appeal. Lot’s of land, great schools, and a wonderful community. The not so good part, we were buying the worst house in town, A square, concrete box built into the side of hill, flat roof, and devoid of all light and charm. I certainly wasn’t sold at first glance, but my husband was. The eternal optimist, he saw an unbelievable opportunity. An opportunity to make the home our dreams, lots of land to spread out and grow, and all for a fraction of the cost of other homes in the same community. So he convinced me, and we embarked on our journey. A journey that really hasn’t ended, and that may ultimately never end, as our home evolves with us. I hope the takeaway from all this, is that home doesn’t mean, pricey furniture, expensive hired hands, and conventional design. Home is creating spaces that you and your family love and can live in comfortably, no matter how you get there, not matter what your budget is. Home-sweet-home can be achieved with just four walls, hard work, creativity, and of course, perseverance.”

The houses you feature are delightful but typically American. I live in the Loire Valley in France in a converted farmhouse that was once 4 cottages over 200 years ago. We in France love colour. Your white paint and blonde wood furniture is rarely seen.
Hi Pamela,
You’re correct. I tend to show most homes from the USA and Canada because this is where the builders and designers I know are from, but I absolutely LOVE the character and timeless beauty you find in homes in France. If you’d like, feel free to get back to me letting me know if you’d be willing to show some photos of your home. If approved, I would love to have you on this series; “Beautiful Homes of Instagram”.
Thank you!

Hello!
Your farmhouse is very beautifully decorated! So serene, the white palette makes for such a relaxing feel.
I was wondering, do you ever decorate with artificial plants or are they all real plants? I’d love to bring the outdoors inside but I never thought I could grow large rose bushes inside?
