Hi, my dear friends! What a wonderful gift it is to start a new week with you here and I have to say that I am really excited to have Kari Keene of @houseofkeene on our “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” series. I know you will love her newly-built white Modern Farmhouse as much as I do. Oh, make sure to follow her on Instagram to continue seeing her home! You won’t be disappointed.
“Hello everyone! I am Kari Keene of @houseofkeene and I am beyond honored and grateful that Luciane asked me to share my home with you on “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” here on Home Bunch. Luciane has created such a lovely space full of inspiration and it’s amazing to be part of her journey!
Before we start our home tour I’d like to take a moment to tell you a little bit about myself, my family and our building journey. I have always had a creative side, a love for interior design and I enjoy creating a functional yet aesthetic design to any space.
I met my husband while we were both working for our local police department and the rest is history. In 2017 we did in-vitro infertilization (IVF) to conceive our son and in 2019 we did IVF, again, to conceive our daughter; they are now 3 years old and 8 months old.
Prior to getting pregnant with our daughter, my husband and I knew we wanted a bigger home. We searched and searched for homes in neighborhoods but nothing felt right. After many discussions we ultimately decided to build on his family land, which is surrounded by thousands of pecan trees. It is truly so calming and peaceful and the ideal place to raise a family of our own.” -Kari from @houseofkeene.
“We looked at so many house plans online and one day, while my sister was visiting, she recommended our house plan via Architect Designs website. My husband and I both fell in love with the exterior of the home. It was everything we wanted in a home — modern, yet traditional as well as timeless and inviting. Once we received the house plans we spent a few weeks making changes to the layout that would best fit our family’s needs. Then we met with our builder, Keith Bryan Construction, and Architect. We broke ground in February 2020 and our home was completed in October 2020, just two weeks before I gave birth to our daughter.” -Kari from @houseofkeene.

“Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed about having a home with double front doors and these doors do not disappoint. We opted for fiberglass doors due to the amount of humidity and high temperatures in the south.” -Kari from @houseofkeene.
Door stain: Minwax gel stain in Aged Oak.

“It is a southern tradition to paint your porch ceiling “haint blue”, which derives from old southern folklore. I love this tradition and knew I wanted to incorporate it in our home.” -Kari from @houseofkeene.
Blue Porch Ceiling Paint Color: Sherwin Williams Atmospheric at 80%.
Front Door Lights: Pottery Barn Manor glass and iron sconce.

“The original house plan had an open entryway, which I changed. I added a small L-shaped wall to enclose the dining room and create an actual foyer. To me, this is more intimate and inviting. I added floor to ceiling shiplap on the foyer. The table in the foyer was a Christmas gift from our builder, Keith Bryan, who built this stunning table.”-Kari from @houseofkeene.

All of the white you see in our home on the walls, trim, shiplap, doors, ceilings and cabinets is Sherwin Williams Alabaster. The walls are painted with an eggshell sheen while the trim, shiplap, doors and cabinets are all painted with a satin sheen. The ceilings are of course painted with a flat sheen.” -Kari from @houseofkeene.

“We changed a lot about the look of the exterior, which includes vaulting the back porch ceiling, enclosing the grilling porch area to make it our “dog room” and adding three windows to the master suite. I knew we would spend many, many hours outside watching our children play and enjoying nature, so it was really important for me to have an open porch that would be the main focal point. I love natural light so we added three large windows to the master suite, which overlook our pond.” – Kari from @houseofkeene.
This home is balanced and it feels serene… It’s a place of harmony, peace and Blessings and I hope this house tour brings you these same feelings throughout your day. 🙏
