Springtime is possibly the most eagerly anticipated season of them all; after six months of grey skies, rain and snow, the first glimpse of a daffodil peeking out from new grass is a welcome sight for anyone feeling gloomy about the winter! We can really make the most of this inside our home too, by bringing colors and textures in from outside and bringing life into every room once again.
Colors
Spring is a great time to try new colors in your home; start introducing bright, natural colors like yellow and green, as well as more daring shades – if you’ve wanted to try a teal or a pale violet, pick one wall and let your imagination take over! Painting is the cheapest way to achieve a color update, but if you’d rather stick with neutral walls you can simply accessorize the home instead – spring-themed ornaments are a great subtle addition, while cushions and soft cotton throws are a great way of adding splashes of color here and there.
Bring the Outside In
The best way to add natural colors is simply to bring nature into your home! Wild seasonal flowers are perfect – make sure you have permission to pick them first – so aim for daffodils, fawn lilies and some warmer pinks and purples from primroses and pasques. If you’re a keen gardener, you could even use that to the advantage of the room looking out over your garden – fitted patio doors like those available from Safestyle UK come in a variety of colors and materials, and will really help to create a synergy between your home design and the bright colors of your garden.
Switching Seasons
If you really like having a seasonally-updated home, it’s worth having a few staple items you can bring out each time the seasons change. For example, while you may cover your living room and bedroom with cozy, fluffy blankets in winter, by the time spring comes around you’ll probably want to replace them with lighter silk throws. A great way to achieve a quick seasonal look is to change the curtains, pillows or bedding sheets.
Add Inspiration
Fill your coffee table with flower books, garden magazines for a constant source of inspiration and a great way to add a more lived-in feel. Or simply bring a small bouquet of fresh flowers to your desk. That will bring Spring a little closer to you.
Put Your Foot Down!
Even if winter seems to last forever, start decorating for spring anyway. It’s good to have a visual reminder of where we are in the calendar year, and chances are you’re tired of the cold and the dark already, so brightening up your home will help to lift your spirits, and provide constant surprise and delight to visitors.
