This newly-finished custom home is a Modern Farmhouse with a coastal twist. Located in beautiful La Jolla, California, the property overlooks a valley with a serene ocean view. You could say this is a humble home – It’s beautiful on the outside with a classic curbside appeal, but what you don’t realize is that you’re about to walk into a grand foyer with custom wainscoting and a unique hardwood floor pattern. Keep going and it opens up to a completely open living room, dining, & kitchen floor plan with 11′ 6” custom coffered ceilings. The designer wanted every room in this house to have a WOW factor so every detail was treated with care and perfection. To top it all off you will find an organic greenhouse, which really puts this home in another category. But what really made this home was the people behind it. AGK Design Studio & The Meter Co. all had the passion to complete it in a timely manner, but also to finish it properly. Efficient teamwork and passion for design is what makes homes like this a showcase.

The bathroom features double vanity with a center tower. If you have kids, you know that creating a few inches of “separation” sometimes can avoid some serious drama! π
I’ll be honest with you… if I had to advise anyone in regards to bathroom and kitchen design, I would always say to stay neutral and classic. These are the two most expensive rooms to renovate and when you keep things classic like we see here, chances are that you will never get tired of it nor feel as if it looks outdated just after a few years. This bathroom is beautiful and current but it doesn’t scream any trend and that’s how a well-designed space should be.

Hi. I love the color of the kitchen island and built ins. You have it listed as Sherwin Williams Smoky Candle 8633 but when I called my local Sherwin Williams they advised that color does not exist? Can you please give the right color?
Hello!! I am very interested in the cabinet color but canβt find SW smoky candle. Is this listed as the right color? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you so much!!
Jennie
Hi Jennifer,
I believe it’s an older color. Feel free to contact the designer for further information.
I hope this helps,
Luciane
@HomeBunch
Apologies, I meant island color. π
I’m sure people ask this all the time, but the island and bookshelf paint color don’t match this at all. I even asked for “Frazee” but it’s just not the same unless this pic is really filtered. Any idea why? Or is it possible the designer gave you the wrong color? I’m losing my mind! Thank you!
I located a color by Duron called Smoky Candle 8633W, after problems finding it within the Sherwin Williams selection. However, it does not look like the pictures shown, so I don’t know if it is correct. Thank you for posting the photos and information.
One more note, Sherwin Williams acquired Duron in 2004, so that explains the designer’s reference. The paint can be made at Sherwin Williams, but the color is Duron 8633 Smoky Candle. Hope that helps!
Hi Karen,
This helps a lot! Yes, the color is more towards grey in real life. I believe it changed on the picture due the natural light and filter that might have been used by the photographer. I am not 100% sure about that, but the name of the color is correct. Thanks again for adding this information. It’s truly appreciated!
