Seeing Amanda of @belbublly‘s “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” tour made me like her even more. Her home truly matches her positive personality and I am sure you will feel the same while seeing this tour.
Make sure to give her a follow on Instagram. Amanda is such a talented homeowner and she worked really hard on getting her home ready for this tour. Just take a look at the amazing flower arrangements she added to each and every room! They couldn’t be any lovelier and they’re perfect to welcome spring! 🌸🍃
Please, keep reading and enjoy this beautiful home tour, my friends!
“Hello! I’m Amanda and words cannot even begin to describe how excited and honored I am to have our home featured on Home Bunch! When we were building our house, we got endless inspiration from the homes featured here, I even thought to myself ‘wouldn’t it be amazing if one day our home was featured on Home Bunch?!’, and HERE WE ARE! After connecting with Luciane and seeing what a kind and wonderful person she is, it’s no wonder her blog is amazing! We are so grateful she’s featuring our home and we hope you enjoy our house tour. ❤️
Our Story: My husband and I came up with this house plan on a scratch piece of paper. We just drew it up and continued to tweak it. At the time we were in our starter home which was a custom home we built together in a bit of a rush with both lot and time restrictions. Living in that home long past the time we outgrew it, we became very aware of a home layout that was all sorts of wrong for us, which, in turn, helped us design our forever home that is all sorts of right for us.
Custom homes are challenging to begin with but they’re especially challenging when you’re in an area where custom options are quite harder to find. Not to mention we forewent an architect, interior designer, landscape designer etc. on this home. We contracted out most of the build, but we also did a lot of it ourselves. There were hiccups galore but throughout the process I realized how much I love designing beautiful and functional spaces. No doubt designers and architects are huge assets to any build, but it is certainly possible to create your dream space on your own. We definitely had our work cut out for us on this one, but it was so worth it!
We didn’t have a lot of space in our previous home, nor did we have a lot of windows or natural light so those were two things that we made sure we had in this home. We love how open and spacious this house is. We did 10-foot ceilings on the main floor and put windows in pretty much every spot we could, then we kept adding more and more. 🙂
We have really taken our time doing rooms and still have some furniture and lighting to get. We also have plans to add on an indoor pool house, with a gym and a little greenhouse. We’re working with that design now so at the rate we go, it’ll be up and ready by the time our eight-year-old graduates high school. 😉
My love for design and decorating has prompted me to start a blog called Belbublly. I am excited to share all the home tips I’ve found along the way (the hard way) and all our upcoming projects (we’re also in the middle of a few building renovations) not to mention gardening and my affinity for holiday décor all season long. I hope you’ll follow along! Now, let’s get to the house tour!”

“We’ve always loved the double entry concept that you find in more traditional homes, so we put our own spin on one and here you have it. Our front doors are custom built out of solid oak and all four (screen doors on here too) of these beauties are thick! Winters are cold and windy here so we got pushback on the practicality of double doors, but these doors coupled with the cremone bolts are very efficient.
We did all glass doorknobs on our main level doors which is such an easy way to add a bit of traditional glam. The spacious coat closet (doors on right) is very handy as well. We are happy we went this route with the marble flooring in here, it has a timeless feel and fits our home perfectly. It took a bit to get the staircase right, but we love the way this turned out. ” -Amanda Johnson of @belbublly

“We are so lucky to live near family (our land actually butts right up to my parent’s land) and we love all gathering together. We host most of our families’ dinners which we try to do at least once a week but often times more than that. We didn’t have the space at our previous home so when we designed this house, a dining room and a large table were a must. This table is a custom-built solid wood table made by Urban Wood.” -Amanda Johnson of @belbublly

Oh, the planning that went into this! My husband is an amazing hobby baker, and he also loves to cook, lucky me! I wouldn’t say I love to cook, ha, but we both love home-cooked food, so we spend a lot of time in our kitchen. We knew we wanted a spacious kitchen that was both functional and easy to decorate. I LOVE decorating for the holidays and this kitchen has so many great spots for that.” -Amanda Johnson of @belbublly

“Cabinets all the way to the ceiling were a must as we didn’t want dust traps on top like we had in our previous house. We also almost went with a paneled refrigerator, but we figured it’d be nice to mix it up because we already had an all white kitchen and a lot of white paneled walls throughout our home.” -Amanda Johnson of @belbublly

“This space is wonderfully handy! It wasn’t completed when we moved in, so it has been a work in progress. In fact, this feature in Home Bunch prompted us to finally finish the shelving we had envisioned from the start. It’s great having this space for storage and extra appliances that we don’t want cluttering up the counters in our kitchen.” – Amanda Johnson of @belbublly

“My husband refurbished this large mixer and most weekends it is grinding away making bread and all sorts of baked goodies!”
Notice the freshly baked breads and the cupcakes… Don’t they look amazing?!!! 🙂
Canisters: Anchor Hocking.
Pantry Countertop: Carrara Marble, Polished.
“Off the pantry, in addition to our much-used back staircase, there is a small room that leads to our back porch and our little fenced in dog area. My husband built this gate which is a nice little feature to have. Our dogs are part of our family and are always with us so they are rarely in this space but since our rescue pup thinks he can sit down at the dining room table and sneakily steal food off people’s plates, there are times that this room comes in handy. 🙂” -Amanda Johnson of @belbublly
“We also switched up this room several times and late in the build, after the outside was already sided, we added the two large windows flanking the fireplace. I am so happy we did because I can’t imagine this room without them! We always do benches in front of our fireplaces because we live in South Dakota and plopping down right in in front of the fire and getting a nice blast of heat is a must from time to time.” -Amanda Johnson of @belbublly

“These Huntington House custom chairs are favorites of mine. Leather is a safe bet for our house and lifestyle (cue eight-year-old son and dogs) but I really wanted fabric in here, so I chose a dark velvet for the seating area and this pretty white/tan lace for the backs.” -Amanda Johnson of @belbublly

“Between the built-in drawers and a large closet we have in this room we have ample storage for office supplies and our son’s crafting and project materials. I still can’t decide on hardware for the cabinet doors but I’m leaning toward cremone bolts.” -Amanda Johnson of @belbublly
Lighting – Visual Comfort Frame Maker’s Picture Light.
“If you haven’t noticed, I am a fan of pocket doors! I think they work great in spots where you will mostly leave the door open but want the option for having it closed off. They are nice space savers.” – Amanda Johnson of @belbublly
Paint Color: Sherwin Williams Pure White.
“This was another late addition! We originally planned for this space to be a walkout balcony, but it didn’t work out so as they were starting to put the roof on the main floor sunroom, we decided this would be a great spot for another sunroom. This is probably my true, favorite room in this house, so much so that I can’t decide on what the furniture to put in it.😜

“The double pocket doors to the second level sunroom are dreams because we don’t have to cover up the windows with shades. If we don’t want an early blast of light at sunup we just close the pocket doors at night.“ – Amanda Johnson of @belbublly

“No surprise at this point but we designed and redesigned this space several times! The tub was originally going to be in front of the window, but we just couldn’t get it to work out right. One thing I knew is that I wanted a bathtub that packed a punch! I love the elegant look of stand-alone tubs, but I wanted all of the bells and whistles with jets and bubbles because I love taking baths. I like how this flexible molding gave us the option to keep our jacuzzi tub rounded, mimicking the look of a big stand-alone and I love the look of the 14” marble slab on the wall behind the tub.” – Amanda Johnson of @belbublly

“I also wanted a lot of storage hence the two tall cabinets on either side of the vanity. “We got a bit ridiculous here but coming from a home where closet space was next to nil we just went to town with closets in this house! I really like how the wardrobe and shoe rack turned out.” – Amanda Johnson of @belbublly
“The walkout here was another late addition. Since the walkout off the bedroom didn’t pan out, we were determined to find a spot for one somewhere and by putting it off the closet we got the bonus of a covered area on our back patio. It is such a dreamy spot all summer and fall!” – Amanda Johnson of @belbublly

“We knew we wanted a laundry room on the second floor. This room is just across the hall from the master area, and it is a cheery little space for such a dreaded chore. So.much.laundry! For most of our home we chose what we love and a lot of what we love felt very timeless. I certainly wouldn’t say this floor is timeless 🙂 but it is fun to spice it up here and there. I wanted dark grout in heavily used areas, so this tile allowed for that plus pops of color.
I love the counter space with hampers underneath and the hanging drying rack is so handy! I wanted good storage in this room because, let’s face it, laundry rooms can get messy and cluttered!” – Amanda Johnson of @belbublly

“I have always loved the look of a soapstone sink and after much searching I found a company in Denver that makes them, LaCour Stoneworks did a fabulous job! We used these sinks in both mudrooms and they are wonderful! They hold up against anything, they are easy to clean yet never look dirty. I love how the black pops with the white marble and cabinets.” – Amanda Johnson of @belbublly
Sink – Custom Soapstone LaCour Stoneworks.
“We knew our mudroom off the garage would need to handle a lot. Between our South Dakota weather and our families’ lifestyle (husband in construction and wild eight-year-old) it is inevitable that dirt, sand, rocks, snow and the like are constantly brought in. We also wanted this area to have a large walk-in closet for household items and vacuum and mop storage (inside those double doors – see photo below) a large sink, washer and dryer, bathroom and a large closet area tucked in the back corner. This is my husband’s space so when he comes in from work, he has his laundry, shower and clothes handy. It was a lot to fit in this space and hard to make it all work but after a lot of reworking it finally came together.” – Amanda Johnson of @belbublly

“We also wanted a large walk-in closet for all our boots, coats, hats, gloves etc., but wanted it easily accessible and easy to close off, hence, pocket door! If this space gets messy (hint, it usually is) it’s nice to be able to slide that pocket door right closed.” – Amanda Johnson of @belbublly
Spring, and its beautiful colors, will be here in no time! 🙂
“I have a weakness for hydrangeas so I put those everywhere I can, my husband even installed individual sprinkler heads so each one of these beauties gets properly misted during our sweltering summer months.” – Amanda Johnson of @belbublly
