Overlooking the shores of Lake Michigan, more precisely in Petoskey, this coastal home was designed by Edward Postiff Interiors to stand the test of time. Traditional interiors beautifully complement the carefully designed architectural details, while natural surroundings seems to inspire every element in this house.
Take a look at this gorgeous coastal home and see how classic traditional interiors always easily surpass any trend.
Coastal Home with Traditional Interiors
Classic design make this home feel timeless and appealing for many generations to come.
Roof is “Georgian Grey” by “CertainTeed Shingle”.
Exterior Paint Color
Exterior Paint Color is “Benjamin Moore Cloud White 967”.
Entryway
A gorgeous lake view and traditional elements are the first things you notice as you enter this home.
Hardwood flooring is Hickory with “Antique Walnut” stain.
Classy Choices
The eating nook centers the main room of the house, creating a separation from the kitchen to the family room.
The settees are from Kravet Furniture and the table was custom.
Kitchen
This kitchen feels traditional and elegant in a light way.
The chandelier over the dining table is from “Ironware International”.
The kitchen itself without the eating area is 9′ x 21′.
Kitchen Island
This island is truly inspiring. I love the unique feet and the lighting under it.
The island is stained in Antique Walnut and it measures 9 feet.
Wall Paint Color
“Benjamin Moore Natural Beech 253”.
Kitchen Island Light Fixture
Light fixture above island is the “Sloane Street Double Billiard Light” from Circa Lighting.
Range
Beautiful hood and cabinet details.
Range is by “Wolf”.
View
I would love to cook with a view like that!
Sink
Stunning stainless steel apron sink and cabinet.
Cabinet Paint Color
“Benjamin Moore Snowfall White OC-118”.
Creative
This kitchen also features a lovely china pantry.
Special Beauty
I love this idea! You can display your special china when not in use.
Open Floor Plan
The kitchen and eating area opens to an inviting family room.
Ceiling Paint Color
The tongue and groove ceiling is “Benjamin Moore Ivory White 925” in Satin Impervo Finish. The same color is on the trim.
Wall Paint Color
“Benjamin Moore Ivory White 925”.
The designer says that he highly recommends “Benjamin Moore Ivory White 925”. It is his “go-to” cream white color.
Bar
A dramatic black custom cabinet hides a bar inside. This piece is perfect for entertaining and it adds some personality to this room.
Family Room
This family room feels complete and tailored without being over-the-top. I also like the ceiling design and millwork.
Powder Room
Simple wainscoting is accentuated by a warm wallpaper in this powder room.
Staircase
The staircase is simple and classic. I love the hickory flooring. Hickory is a very hard wood, therefore it’s very durable.
Master Bedroom
What appeals the most in this bedroom for me is the floor plan. I love the idea of having a separate sitting area. It’s perfect if someone wants to sleep while the other is watching tv.
The chandelier is from “Murray Feiss”.
Doors
French doors and transoms add privacy to the sitting area.
Comfort
This sitting area is perfect to spend some quiet time alone or with a good book.
Bathroom
The master bathroom feels very elegant and warm.
The mirror is from Currey & Company.
Freestanding Bath
Perfect way to throw any kind of stress away! 🙂
Wallpaper
This wallpaper comes from a company called “Wynfield Thybony”.
Narrow Bedroom
Custom bunk beds are a great option for narrow bedrooms.
Bunk Room
Great idea of using twin beds on top and double on the bottom. An extra wide ladder can be used for both sides.
Guest Bedroom Paint Color
“Benjamin Moore Old Navy 2063-10”.
Easy Flow
A convenient bathroom by the mudroom comes handy in this house.
Bathroom
Storage is added with large rope baskets. Useful and beautiful!
Laundry Room
The sink in the laundry room is vintage. It has been reglazed and was saved from the original farm house on the property.
Mudroom
This simple mudroom has a welcoming feel. The flooring is porcelain from Virginia Tile. It is the Crossvile Series. Durable and affordable!

Ahhh… this last picture reminds me of the many days I spent on the beach this last summer. The weather is quite different now. The temperature is dropping fast and it was raining during the entire weekend… you know those days that are so gray outside that you wish you could stay in bed for the whole day? They make you feel sleepy and just crave comfort food and chocolate. This is the time I need to watch what I eat. I haven’t met anyone who craves more good food than myself! 🙂
Talking about that, what’s your favorite comfort food? Share them with me. I am needing to update my recipes… try new flavors and surprise the kids! So, let me know what you’ve being cooking lately!

LOVE! I have always wanted a lake house with a big wide front porch…..so well done. Hope you are well Luciane!
Thank you for sharing this – love it! Lots of great ideas.
i recently discovered your web site and i am blown away by all the gorgeousness you post! i have been spending way too many hours drooling over all these beautiful homes as well as getting to know you. thank you for sharing such beauty.
Sorry, I love your posts, but coastal does not mean lake!?!
Hello Mary.
Thank you for your comment.
Coastal is more than location, and in this case, I refer it to the interior style of this home. If you see it carefully, you will see many coastal references, from colors to decor. This is in fact, a traditional coastal home.
Regards,
Luciane
I love that first house so much! What an amazing interior! Every room was wonderful in every possible way!
I don’t know how you consistently find such amazing homes, but THANK YOU!!!!!
Thanks once again Luciane for a stunning home. I could move right it. Perfection.
I love many of the elements of this coastal elements/inspired home. I think I know one person who craves good food more than you do! lol And as for comfort food, at this time of year, I am loving home made soups and stews. Some of my favourites: roasted tomato and blue cheese, roasted vegetable, lamb and lentil, to mention a few. And for dessert, a new favourite is home made maple walnut ice-cream! Yum! 🙂
This house has so many fun and useful custom features! Loved it! Funny you should ask about comfort food because this weekend I felt like cooking and spent more time in the kitchen then I usually do. I roasted a small chicken and made a large pot of chicken noodle soup and then made an apple pie (used delicious Honeycrisp apples) which we served with Haagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream and had with friends. Delicious!
Well…this one hit “all my buttons!!” It is absolutely fabulous…I’ve looked at it numerous times already and always something new to “ah-hah” about! franki “Shrimp Bisque” for dinner tonight 🙂
It’s a beautiful house, elegant and cozy.
my favorite food? Many, good bbq ribs, for example, hehe
xoxo
Hi Luciane, what a beautiful home!
Now it is time for soups, hot and spicy – they makes me warm inside and outside:-) !
Have a very good day
Eli
The wood floors I so love and as for comfort food well homemade chicken noodle soup with a slice of fresh pumpkin bread! Yum!! I do want to make an acorn squash soup never had done it so about time i did but it needs to get a littler cooler here…where I am at yesterday was 85 still too warm but in a couple of weeks 75 should be the normal high…yippee!
the house was designed by architect Greg Presley of Presley Architecture!
Love it all!! Could you share the counter top material and cabinet hardware in the kitchen? Thank you!
Is this house for sale?
Hi Sherryl,
I don’t think it is, but feel free to contact the designer for more information.
Thank you.
Luciane
We have laid hickory inside our remodel. Where did you find (what brand) your antique walnut stain?
Gorgeous! Such a beautiful home that is so inviting.. Job well done!
What is the width from the kitchen wall to you living wall?
We are building our home and I want that exact open layout like this. Need to make sure I have it just right;)!
Does anyone know where this house is located?
I just found it sorry never mind!
THAT DINING ROOM TABLE AND THE SETTEES — WHOEVER PUT THAT TOGETHER? SHOULD BE GETTING A MEDAL OR AN AWARD OF SOME KIND.
IT IS THE MOST AWESOME COMBINATION OF FURNITURE THAT FLOWS INTO AN EXQUISTE AND COHESIVE WHOLE THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN.
AND THE WAY IT JUST MELDS INTO THE HICKORY HARDWOOD FLOOR? ABSOLUTELY PERFECT.
I AM IN AWE.
