Summer is almost here and I know I’ll be renting a little cottage by the sea, but if I could, I would be packing my bags to go to this charming French cottage.
Situated only ten km south of Strasbourg, France, next to a forest in the heart of a typical Alsatian village, this rental French cottage seems to be the perfect place to enjoy a quiet weekend, relax and visit some beautiful small towns near by, such as Obernai, Boersch and be enchanted by the local little shops and fabulous restaurants.
Questsche et Mirabelle, as it’s called, is a place I’ll keep in my memory and hope to visit someday.
Home
You can’t help but feel completely at ease and welcomed in this cottage.
Light
A place to display loved items.
Hearts
Lovely and delicate.
Candles
The cottage has a really beautiful and unique decor. I love the idea of hanging crystal balls on the chandelier.
Fireplace
You’ll find a beautiful tiled stove in the dining room, typical of traditional Alsatian houses. The heart on the wall is made of driftwood.
Dreamy Bedroom
The cottage works as a bed & breakfast and this room (my favorite) is rented for 105 β¬/night.
Reve Blanc
I wish my head was resting on those fluffy pillows at this moment…
Two
Could it be any more perfect?
Now and Then
The interior designer mixed some interesting elements in this room.
Bathroom
Simplicity is key. The painted wooden furniture and antique mirror accentuates the decor.
Walls
I really like the way they painted the wall; an easy and affordable way to bring interest to any room.
Bath
The clawfoot tub is on a small platform protected by a linen curtain. Unique and romantic.
I really adore this place! I could spend a long time in this here, just enjoying the region, the stunning decor and learning French. Wouldn’t that be dreamy?
Let’s book a weekend in this place? Who is with me? π
I’m feeling so good today! I haven’t changed my mattress yet, but I finally could have a good night of sleep. I think it’s because I was so tired that I fell asleep in a flash. My kids had a playdate with their best friend and it was busy around here! We made some pizza and baked a chocolate cake together. I even had energy to make my favorite meal for dinner: gnocchi. It was a “carbonanza” around here, but boy, we had a fun day!
Sometimes, all we need is to remember how fun it was to be a child. Do you remember that feeling of being able to do anything just because you were you? Do you remember how much you believed you were able to become anything you wanted to be? Do you remember all the dreams? All the laughter? All the funny moments you could find in every day you lived?
We mature, life comes and breaks our innocent heart and slowly we start to forget to laugh often.
We really need to allow our hearts to remember how beautiful life can be, when we see life as we did when we were kids. We can’t fix innocence once broken, but we can choose to look at our day with more humor, with a better mood and with a lighter spirit.
Bring good childhood memories throught your life and you’ll always be true to yourself. Somehow, we knew ourselves better when we were kids because the world hadn’t influenced our hearts just yet.
Bring yourself back and smile. You’re precious.

I bet you didn’t know that one of my favorite meals is gnocchi! I have never made it – will you share your recipe? I had such ambitions as a kid – big dreams. I never thought of failing. I need to remember to think like that little girl again. Thanks for the reminder!
very nice French cottage – such soft & soothing decor. Nice respite from the crazy world we live in!
What a sweet charming home! Love the neutral soft color palette. Have a great day Luciane!
Hi Luciane,
I love this French Cottage, what a beautiful place to be. I also love your comments at the end of the post. Yes, I remember all those feelings as a child. I just had a big birthday this year and my kids are almost all grown. We can all get caught up in the business of life while raising a family. I plan now to get back in touch with my inner child and have more fun time for me now that my time is more freed up. I loved being a stay at home mom and cherish all those memories, but it is also nice to be able to get back in touch with me.
Luciane,
I love seeing homes like this in places I’d love to visit and they’re for rent. What could be better?! Very sweet home in a very beautiful country, thank you.

hmmm the two first photos was lovely, but the rest of the cottage looks like it is trying too much at once, and not succeeding at any of it :s To bland, and the idea of being “in and hip” to blend new and old just isnt working in this cottage at all… eek… nope, didnt do it for me like some of the others have done π
I embrace all of your thoughts there at the end- I so often wish more people could find more joy in their daily lives- it’s such a gift when you realize that it’s a choice.
This cottage is so very charming…so many unique details. A perfect place to spend a few weeks!
What a powerful message, Luciane. Boy-oh-boy, is it ever easy to get lost in maturity and forget to laugh, spirited and free! I guess that’s where the saying, oh to be young again, comes from π Spending time in this cottage would go a long way to bringing that feeling to the forefront. What a quaint, cozy, restful place to be!
And I’m with Missi Smith… gnocchi is one of my favorites, but I don’t know how to make it! If you share your recipe, I’d love to borrow it!!!
