December is here and if you look around, you will see that no one is truly relaxed. Everyone has something to do, somewhere to be and so much shopping to accomplish.
In the middle of it all, we usually have to get our home ready for the holidays. Guests and family usually drop by for a visit or a stay and we want our home to be ready for all that.
With that in mind, I am sharing today some easy ideas to update your interiors. Many of these ideas are budget-friendly and won’t take much of your time. Others will need some extra effort, but they’re sure to last for many holidays to come.
Take a look and take notes. Perhaps you can start updating your interiors today!
1- Paint Your Walls
If there’s one thing you shouldn’t neglect in your home, it’s paint. Paint not only changes how your house looks, but also how you feel.
Choose a color that makes you feel relaxed and at ease.

2- Paint Your Furniture
If you’re like me, you get tired of furniture more often than you should. If that’s the case, why not make them your canvas? Painting them in soft pastels like aqua and cream will bring a beach-y feel to the space.

3- Smart Small Space
Are you tired of having your table squeezed by a wall? If so, you should consider investing in a banquette.
Banquettes are very popular right now and we’re seeing them even in larger homes. But the truth is that banquettes are a great space saver! You can accommodate more people and they often add value to your home.

4- Dress Your Kitchen Cabinets with New Hardware
Don’t underestimate what pulls and knobs can do to your kitchen. They can transform any dull kitchen into a fabulous one.
Keep that in mind and don’t feel discouraged when you see a kitchen with outdated hardware. They are easy to change and usually affordable.

5- Replace Countertop
When did replacing countertops became an easy idea to update your home? Okay, maybe this is not the easiest or the cheapest, but it’s certainly necessary.
Many people feel they can’t replace their countertop and wait years to do so. I feel we need to open our minds when it comes to updating the countertops in kitchens and bathrooms. Try to envision them with other materials than the very popular “white marble”. There are many more affordable choices out there that are safe and very durable.

6- Replace your Outdated Knobs on Cabinets and Furniture
You can change the look of your old cabinets and furniture by simply adding some new knobs. Get creative with it!

7- Add Splash of Color with Accessories
A house becomes a home the moment we start adding what we love in it. Display your favorite color with dish towels and other easy-to-change accessories.
8- Add Unexpected Pieces to Your Home
Sometimes, all we need to update the entire feel of our home is adding an unexpected piece of furniture. Next time you’re buying furniture for your home, try to be a little unpredictable and come home with a unique piece.
9- Buy Multipurpose Furniture
This high gloss lacquered “Armani Modern Buffet 150” is perfect if you like to move your furniture from time-to-time. This multipurpose piece can be used in the dining room as a buffet, in a entryway or anywhere you need some extra storage.
Don’t you love the design inside of this buffet? Just beautiful!
10- Use Every Space You Have
If you live in a house where there’s plenty of closets and you feel you don’t use all of them, here’s a neat idea: transform one into a wine room!
A rustic barn door style takes the “closet” look away from this space.

11- Be Creative
Keep your mind open with the space you have at home… be creative and envision the possibilities.

12- Have More Mirrors
Having some strategically placed mirrors around the house will make it feel brighter and larger.

13- Hang Your Artwork
Bring personality to your home with artwork. They can add color and dimension to the space.

14- Vases & Flowers
Show that you love your home with some fresh flowers. Display them in unique vases or antique pitchers, like the one above.

15- Buy New Sheets
Nothing should substitute comfort at home and when it comes to your bed, comfort should be priority. Invest on some soft sheets for a good night’s sleep and to easily update the look of your bedroom.

Is everyone shopping for the holidays? I am working hard on this, but it’s being a little more complicate this year. Shopping for my kids used to be so easy when they were younger, but now they’re in the, “electronic phase” . Toys, board games, all of those things are not that interesting for them anymore, and electronics are not something I want my kids to be too involved with right now. This is something they will have plenty of time to play with, but I still think they’re too young for them right now.
My point is… how do you not give what they’re asking for without getting a face of disappointment during Christmas?
I guess I have to keep telling them that Santa’s “iPad” machine is still broken. 🙂

Obrigada!!!
beijo querida e boas compras,

Wonderful ideas, and inspiration! Your comments about Christmas shopping for “tweens” is the very reason for gift cards at Costco! 🙂
