Finding the right white paint color is so important yet it can be quite tricky, right? There’s no question that we all use paint color – you might not have one single white wall or white cabinet in your home, but chances are that you have white ceilings, doors and/or trims. Choosing the right paint color for these elements is not always an easy task because what works in your neighbor’s house might not work in yours (Hello, natural light!) and personal tastes vary, like in everything else, so there’s lots of factors to consider when selecting the right shade.
In this post, I am sharing my favorite white paint colors and I am telling you why these popular whites made the list. Read the post, see which white colors you think would work best in your home and buy some samples to see how they look in real life. Also, don’t forget to pin the color palette I have made especially for you, and if you want to see the rest of the houses I am sharing here, simply click on the links shared under each image after “See full details”. These homes are all inspiring!
I hope this entire post is handy and if you have a favorite white paint color, don’t forget to share in the comments below. 🙂
Benjamin Moore Simply White:Â Once known as the Color of the Year, Benjamin Moore Simply White is as classic as it gets and it certainly gives any space a sense of brightness without being stark thanks to its slightly warm undertones. Interior designers, like the talented Julie Howard for @timbertrailshomes, often use Benjamin Moore Simply White on cabinets, trim and millwork in general. Keep in mind that BM Simply White is significantly brighter than Benjamin Moore White Dove, which is another very popular white paint color.

Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee: If you are looking for a neutral white paint color that works on cabinets, walls and trim, don’t hesitate giving Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee a try! Featuring slightly green, gray and yellow undertones, this versatile white paint color also looks perfect on walls with warm hardwood floors (like we see in the picture above) and it can make any interior feel inviting. This is not a white shade that will hurt your eyes on a sunny day! 🙂

Benjamin Moore White Dove:Â I think it’s almost impossible to live in the world of interior design without hearing of Benjamin Moore White Dove. I started Home Bunch more than a decade ago and I can confidently say that Benjamin Moore White Dove is one of the most popular white paint colors of our time. Interior designers love this warm off-white shade and they often recommend it. Benjamin Moore describes “White Dove” as light and luminous, and they refer to it as a favorite choice for molding and trim. I would add to it by saying it’s also a favorite color for cabinets. But, is BM White Dove really white? I want you to keep in mind that Benjamin Moore White Dove is not a true white, so pay close attention when pairing this color with tiles, countertops and decor. You don’t want to use Benjamin Moore White Dove on cabinets and choose a stark white subway tile as backsplash or a stark white countertop. I see this happening quite often. Benjamin Moore White Dove looks its best when complemented with warm hues such as beiges and warm greys.

Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace: Now, if you’re looking for a “true white” that has no warm or cool undertones you have found it! This shade is perfect for cabinets, shiplap and paneling in general and it’s the go-to crisp white paint color of many interior designers. Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace is the perfect bright white and it’s often used on farmhouse or coastal interiors because it brings that crisp and airy feel that many of us love. Oh, did I mention this is one of Benjamin Moore‘s top best sellers?

Benjamin Moore Super White:Â Benjamin Moore Super White has some gray undertones and it’s the whitest of Benjamin Moore white paints, which can be great on cabinets and trims but can look a bit too stark on walls. Benjamin Moore describes this color as a “brilliant, almost sparkling white, this clean shade suggests clarity and simplicity.” Complement this color with cool grays or black, for an ultra-crisp result.

Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White: Featuring cool undertones, Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White is perfect for kitchen cabinets since it’s an off-white paint color. This shade is slightly warmer than Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace and works quite well with White Marble and White Oak flooring, like we see in the picture above.

Sherwin Williams Pure White: This is, without doubt, one of the most popular white paint colors by Sherwin Williams and it keeps gaining popularity with interior designers and homeowners that are looking for a bright white paint color that is not too stark. Sherwin Williams Pure White is a crisp white color, but if you are looking for something really bright, you might want to consider “Extra White”, also by Sherwin Williams.

Sherwin Williams Alabaster: If Benjamin Moore has “White Dove” as their most-popular off-white paint color, Sherwin Williams has “Alabaster”. Many people are a little hesitant to select this warm white paint color because they think their walls or cabinets might look yellow. Having a neutral base, Sherwin Williams Alabaster should not give the appearance of yellow on your walls or cabinets but keep in mind that this is a creamy white, which can make any white interiors feel extra inviting and comfortable.
