Certain homes can be a little deceiving from the outside. If you take a look at the exterior of this Tudor style home, you would never guess the interiors are all about French decor! You probably would imagine the interiors of this home to be very traditional, with lots of dark paneled walls and heavy dressed furniture and draperies. But as soon as you open the classic wooden doors, you’re in a space full of light, character and beauty.
Designed by Thompson Custom Homes and located in Houston, Texas, this home is perfect if you are searching for timeless, inspiring French interiors ideas. The entire house showcases elegant French interiors in a sophisticated yet warm way.
I hope you feel inspired and relaxed while seeing this beautifully designed home.
Home with Inspiring French Interiors
This entryway is heavenly! I love the amount of natural light coming in and making the walls appear even more crisp and architectural. Also, notice the minimal decor and the wide staircase with custom wrought iron railings and spindles. Extraordinary!

Living Room
This living room was beautifully designed with great furniture layout and timeless wooden paneled walls.
Built-in Bookcases
This space is perfect for entertaining or to be alone with a great book. I am loving the symmetric built-in bookcases and the artwork.
Also, notice how warm this color palette feels. Although this is a quite formal space, it’s also very livable.
The New French Kitchen
This is how the new French kitchen looks like: it’s modern and timeless at the same time, mixing classic with modern design.
I am loving the extendable island, the painted brick wall and the furniture-like cabinet on the left.
Floors are blue stone.
Extendable Kitchen Island
This kitchen has crisp white cabinets and a great kitchen island design.
Here, the extendable island is hidden under the countertop (look the picture above). Isn’t it a brilliant idea?
Pendants are the “Single Sloane Street Shop Light With Metal Shade” in antique brass.
Open Shelves
Any kitchen with open shelves are extra charming in my opinion.
The deep, richly stained dark cabinets beautifully contrasts with the crisp white open shelves.
Kitchen Decor
This combo never fails: Dark wood, white marble and white open shelves with white china.
Dining Area
This casual dining area is just perfect! I love the blue stone flooring, the fireplace, millwork and art.
Similar Paint Color: Benjamin Moore Timid White OC-39
Siting Area
Separated by a large double-sided fireplace from the dining room, you’ll find a cozy sitting area that is perfect for your afternoon tea or to read your newspaper.
Notice the two looks of this space. In the picture above, you have a mix of different chairs and bellow, all chairs are the same. Which one you prefer?
Comfy Chairs
Imagine spending some cozy time here by the fire in a cold day, watching the snow fall.
French Vignette
A house just becomes a home when you start showcasing your style and taste. Vignettes are perfect to display what’s important to you.
Bedroom
Similar Paint Color: Benjamin Moore Moonshine Oc-56
The dimensions of the master bedroom are approximately 24′ x 16′. Isn’t it a gorgeous space? I love every detail found here, from the decor to the architecture.
Bathroom
What an incredible bathroom! Beautiful dark stained hardwood floors and cabinets.
Bath is the “Kohler Vintage bath”.
Patio
Blue stone flooring is carried to the patio.
The brick used here was “White Rose Tudor” brick.
Lanters are similar to Bevolo Gas Lanterns.
Pool
This is a great pool design for small backyards! I am loving the classic architecture and flooring.

My dear friends… I stop here trying to find words to express what I felt after reading your words of comfort yesterday. I want to say thank you, but it doesn’t feel it’s enough… Is there a word bigger than “thank you” for a moment like this? Well, what I can tell you is how you made me feel. You, with your kind words made me feel loved and cared and that’s what I am needing right now. You helped me to feel calmer and more at peace and I will always be grateful for that.
I never had lost anyone this important to me before and although I always tried to help others that had lost their loved ones, I never really knew how. I shared words of comfort and prayed but I wasn’t sure if that was actually going to help them in any way. What do you do, what do you say? But now I know that this really helps. Your support warmed-up my heart and I could feel so much love, so many Blessings coming my way.
It’s being hard for me and at first I wanted to stay away from everything and everyone. At first, you feel you want to stay in your bed, quiet. But I knew I couldn’t. I have my kids and they need me so much and I also didn’t want to stay away from the blog. I won’t lie to you, like every job, sometimes I do get tired and want to take a break, but I know this is not just like any job, like many of you said, this is not just about the pretty houses, this goes beyond that for myself also. The connection I have with you guys is what inspires me.
Now, at this moment, you are inspiring me to keep my grandmother’s Light alive in my heart and as you mentioned, she will be looking after me and my loved ones from Above.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write to me yesterday. I feel okay during the day, but after I put the kids to bed and feel the silence in my house, I often start to feel the pain getting greater in my heart. Yesterday I had your words to calm me down and I will keep reading them every time I miss her.
May all the blessings and prayers you sent our way go back your way also. May God always bless you and yours.
Thank you, my dear friends. I am so very blessed for having you all.

Her light is alive in you. Take care of yourself while you care for your loved ones.
Words always do seem to be a trite offering of condolence, but they do soothe and they do offer comfort. It’s heartwarming to hear that they have given your heart solace.
I admire your honesty and authenticity in sharing your love for your Grandmother and the sadness you are experiencing. We, your readers and clients, feel such empathy for what you are going through and are here to support you every step of the way. You are not alone and we care about you. Praying that peace will come to you especially during the difficult night hours you mentioned. Hugs to you.
Dear Luciane, we are blessed for having you!
You are not alone. My thoughts re with you.

Most of us have “been there”…your words are exactly how I would think. franki
Luciane,
You have found me a home! I would not change a thing in this house so I can move in tomorrow!! Love it!
Take care of yourself, your grandmother raised you well.
Luciane – I missed your post yesterday but teared up when I read it… so sorry for your terrible loss. Sending healing prayers your way – Margo
I promise the sadness of losing someone so close eventually becomes bearable. Even at night. But until then, please don’t be so hard on yourself. When you love someone so, it’s natural to feel many emotions forever how long it takes. I needed a full year before I could even stop crying at the thought of my mom gone. As many told me, you never stop missing them, you just start to remember they live on thru you and aren’t really gone, just waiting for us to join them for eternity where there is no pain or sadness. Hallelujah! May you feel God’s comforting embrace always and may each day be easier for you during this difficult time!
p.s. I liked the matching chairs in the sitting room…probably because they look the comfiest 😉
Good afternoon,
I was looking through the photos of this amazing home and was struck by the beautiful stone mantels and fireplace surrounds. Do you have a resource for these fireplace mantels? I especially love the tall living room mantel that looks as though you could walk right into it.
Thank you.
