As a homeowner, it is important to keep up to date with on-going maintenance work with both the interior and exterior of the house, to ensure your home looks perfect. There are a few jobs that are best to do in the summer, such as painting the exterior of your property, as it is almost impossible to get a good coat onto the walls when rain, sleet and snow are falling.
There are lots of different ways to transform your home by giving it a fresh coat of paint, so let’s take a look at the top five ways you can give your property a new lease of life:
When you want to give your home a completely fresh new look, then the easiest way to achieve this is to paint the walls. You will need to paint outside, as well as inside, and you might also want to change the colors that you use to create an entirely new look.

For example, why not transform your front door from a regular beige color to a vibrant summery hue by adding a coat of paint with a hint of yellow or turquoise? You can also try a new color on your dining room or bedroom walls to give your property a new feel. How about choosing a bold color such as the ever trendy navy blue? You can change it up a bit by simply painting half the room in a new color and add paneling to the other half. Consider a little color psychology when choosing your paint to ensure you create the right mood in each room.
Buying brand new furniture is not only time consuming but it can also quickly get very expensive. A great way to give your interior and exterior furniture a new lease of life is to repaint it. You can paint it in a brand new color or just give it a fresh coat of the same color.
Most homes have cupboards everywhere, from the kitchen where we store food through to the bedroom where we hang our clothes. This means if we take the time to go around and repaint all of our cupboards, you will quickly see a huge difference and each room will feel like its hand a complete make-over.
The ceiling of a property is one of the first things that you will notice when you walk into a home and keeping it looking fresh and clean is easy to do when you repaint it. Ceilings are often painted in a neutral shade, which is a simple way to open up a room and make it feel more spacious, but if you’re feeling adventurous, try some a new and exciting hue to add some color to your home.
One of the mistakes that many homeowners make is forgetting to paint outside. Give the garden shed a fresh coat of paint, give the garage door a makeover and any outdoor areas such as a covered-in patio or barbecue space should also be repainted.
You might need to consider different paints for different surfaces, so make sure you use one designed for outdoors, as this will be more resilient to the negative effects of sun, rain and the cold. You can save yourself from buying a multitude of paint cans by choosing a product such as Allcoat Exterior from Rawlins Paint, which can be applied to everything from timber and metal to concrete and plastic. Our house is by the water and I am always looking for products that I feel that will help with the maintenance.

I don’t often share these “pins” but this one is terrific! Love the use of color on the ceiling and the innovative refrigerator panel!
Hi. I love the exterior paint color and am considering the same for my house. Is the exterior all Dovetail (including cedar shakes and siding?) or did you use a lighter gray for the cedar shakes?
Hi Lindsey,
I recommend you to contact the designer personally for more details on this. Please let me know if I can help with your project.
