This week was full of interesting moments. I ended up going to the doctor to find out I am with stomach ulcer, waited anxiously for my blood exams (with tons of crazy thoughts) and had the great news that everything is okay… I just need to go on a treatment and be fine again. In fact, the medicine I am taking is already helping me. So, it’s alllllll good! 🙂
I wasn’t going to mention this here because it seems that I am always bugging you guys and sharing even when I am dealing with a cold, but I am telling you about this because I felt this was the wake-up call I needed to have.
I have not taking care of myself the way I should. I stopped exercising, I am not eating well and I never get enough sleep. After thinking of this, I wondered how many of you are doing just the same? We work hard, we take care of the kids, house, life and we rarely stop to relax and give everything our body, our mind and our spirit are in need of. For the majority of time, we don’t stop and think, or if we do, we don’t do anything to change. We keep pushing ourselves, our limits and even when we get to our limit, we prefer ignore all the signs life is giving to us and we don’t stop. My question is, why don’t we stop when we can instead of waiting for something to stop us? We like to take control of our lives, but little we know that if we don’t stop something might happen and take control of us.
Taking control of our lives means, before anything else, that we need to be responsible for it.
One thing I am learning is to respect my limit and especially, to hear my inner voice. This was a call for me to slow down and focus more on my health. I will take this opportunity to do it so .
During this week, waiting for these exams I thought of many people that waited for the same kind of exam and didn’t get a very positive result. I am very grateful for being fine, but I am thinking and praying for those that aren’t.
We simply can’t underestimate our health, so, like myself, learn to listen to your limits. Don’t overdo yourself.
Take this weekend to think on how you can be better to yourself and do it.

Hello Luciane..you are right when it comes to family, then jobs and household duties not much time is left for ourselves. I have to say as my kids became older…20’s I finally let things go the laundry the dishes left over night and it felt good. I love your blog and as a devoted photo admire/reader I am always here to listen and learn from what you post. thanks for sharing and glad to hear you are doing better.
Excellent advice….I too have done the same as you, and now my health is affected also. Its time to stop and focus just a little on ourselves so we can continue being there for our loved ones….remember to “put on your oxygen mask first”…..
So fun for me to see my Atlanta house on your site looking so Georgian through the blossoms of our cherry tree. Thank you for sharing it with your readers 🙂 So much variety of interior design in this post. All so very beautiful. I spent a long time here taking it all in 🙂 I especially love the quote on your full moon picture at the end. That is so true! I’m grateful you received reassuring news from your doctor today. I will join you in recommitting to take better care of myself. So here’s to a healthy lifestyle, appreciating beautiful design in our surroundings, and happy times with our families!
That WAS good news for you!!! So many design ideas…so little $…except, maybe, for bows on handles…way cute! franki
So glad your results came back all good. You are so right that we push ourselves until we get that “wake up call”. I have had several bad episodes of pneumonia & I too had a talk with myself & decided to slow down; try to live a more meaningful simple life, be content with what we have. My health & the health of all the people I love are the only things that matter to me. I love your blog & each day I look forward to the simple pleasure of some “me” time to enjoy your photos.
Barbara
So glad to hear you got good news and are feeling better. And thank you for the reminder not to take our health for granted. These are beautiful photos. Have a wonderful weekend!
Dear Luciane, I am very glad that you got a good diagnosis. You are right the body wants to be treated well. We need our health and strength, we are important and our family, nothing has to be perfect.
Take your time, be not in hurry. Look at your children and be happy, they need no perfection.
Take care of you.
All my best wishes to you.
You are right . Sometimes the routine of our lives bocome more important than ourselves . Whereas if we do not follow up the routines nothing may happen , but if we do not care ourselves , big accidents will happen.
Thank goodness…great words of advice, as always…love this post, it seems so calming to me these beautiful pictures of beautiful places, serenity does my soul and body good
I was wondering if you can tell me more about the grasscloth wallpaper in the third image? I love this but can not seem to locate it
Hi Aimee.
This is a Blue-navy grasscloth wallpaper by Thibaut. Phillip Jeffries carries similar products.
Hope this helps!
Luciane
Hi Luciane, great post! Would you by any chance know where I can find the mint/glass backsplash in the 4th picture? Thanks!
Hi Andrea,
I couldn’t find the source for that specific backsplash. I recommend you to contact the designer directly: Frances Herrera Interior Design
Have a great day!
