Sea Island Builders recently gave this 20-year-old Isle of Palms home a complete makeover that included a ground-up renovation and a 400-foot addition. The renovation was no minor feat—it included the addition of a second story, an outdoor kitchen, and a pool that flow directly underneath the addition. I think you’ll agree that the hard work paid off; this stately southern home has tons of charm and amenities that would make any neighbor envious.

Isle of Palms Home Renovation
In order to add the pool and second-story addition without compromising the structure of the home, Sea Island Builders started by taking the original home down to its studs in order to add steel beams and steel fitch plates as reinforcement.
Outdoor Kitchen
The homeowners don’t have to go far to get to their new outdoor, in-ground pool. They can float in the sun or enjoy the shade provided by the second story of their home, and if they get hungry, they can head straight to their tiled outdoor kitchen.
Pool Design
Other exterior additions include new doors, Hardie Artisan siding, impact-rated and Energy Star rated Andersen windows, and a Galvalume metal roof.
Kitchen
Of course, there’s a gorgeous indoor kitchen for the homeowners to enjoy when they don’t feel like cooking al fresco. As you can probably tell, the kitchen has all new woodworking, fixtures, and appliances.

Come on through to the dining room. The muted colors of the walls and trim along with the subtle patterned curtains create a sense of coastal calmness, and the chandelier ties the room together nicely.

Bedroom
Adding 400 feet to the usable area of the home really opened the house up, and the master bedroom is looking particularly spacious. The homeowners enjoy great natural light through their new impact-rated windows and glass doors, and they can head straight from the bedroom to the patio whenever they feel like it.
Patio Living Room
The living room provides another gathering space with great natural light and floor-to-ceiling glass windows that make you feel like you’re already outside. And check out the stone fireplace! It’s perfect for cool South Carolina evenings.
