Nikki Dalrymple and her Massachusetts-based design firm, ACQUIRE, were tapped to assist in the redesign of this c. 1940s colonial home based in Wellesley Massachusetts.
The first floor kitchen, mudroom, laundry, and dining room space were completely renovated to accommodate a growing family with a modern sensibility.
As with many colonial house footprints of that era, the rooms were small and closed off from each other. A top priority for the client and ACQUIRE was to create a better flow through the spaces to allow more natural light, and to give the sense of open concept living.

There’s plenty of inspiration in this kitchen. The kitchen island was a custom color wash that the designer created.
Kitchen Island Dimension: 3’ x 7.75’
Lighting: Visual Comfort, Darlana Lantern.
Kitchen counter stools are from Article (Similar Style: here, here, here, here (so comfy!), here, here, here & here). The designer re-upholstered them in Perennials fabric.
Range: Wolf – similar here.
The solid Oak hardwood flooring was refinished on site – similar here.
Paint color on the perimeter cabinets are Benjamin Moore Dove White – you can’t go wrong with classic! 🙂
Kitchen hood is custom.
Dutch Oven: Le Creuset.
Perimeter backsplash is a mix of Carrara and Thassos stone (similar here). Countertop is honed Carrara marble.
Cabinet Hardware: Baldwin Knobs & Pulls in polished nickel.
Kitchen Faucet: Kohler – this is one of my favorites faucets!
Kitchen Sink: Kohler.
Walls feature shiplap painted in Benjamin Moore OC-17 Dove White. Trim is painted in the same color – BM White Dove.
Appliance Pulls: Baldwin.
The kitchen wet bar features paneled refrigerator and freezer drawers, wine cooler and plenty of storage. I love this classic look.
Bar Faucet: Kohler.
Bar backsplash is stainless steel inlaid into Carrara marble.
This mudroom is really inspiring me. The lockers feature a stained wood bench, shiplap back and a built-in drop-zone with drawers.
The rugs in the kitchen and the mudroom all came from a local rug source “Dover Rug & Home”.
The mudroom upper cabinets are inset with antiqued mirror.
The mudroom hardware is Emtek.
The mudroom built-in was painted in Ben Moore White Dove.
