Without doubt, navy is the trendiest exterior color this year. I have seen more navy homes than any other color lately and I am happy to share with you today the exterior and many of the interior paint colors used in this lake home.
Painted in one of the most popular navy exterior paint color; Benjamin Moore Hale Navy, this 6,000-square-foot Craftsman-style lakefront home overlooking Crystal Bay in Minnetonka Beach, Minn. features every modern element you would expect from a Gordon James Construction and Grace Hill Design. Enjoy the clean-lined kitchen opening to the spacious great room, the walls of windows showcasing the lake and the luxurious owners’ suite-with a beautiful view of Lake Minnetonka and featuring a large bath. The three-season porch with a fireplace and grill is the ideal space for waking up to a cup of coffee or winding down the evening with a glass of wine. Upstairs, the kids have their own sanctuary where, in addition to their bedrooms, there’s a large play area/bonus room. The upstairs also includes an office, laundry room, and craft room. The lower level is entertainment central with a wet bar and generous media room.
The exterior color is Benjamin Moore Hale Navy. The stone is from Hedberg in Golden Valley, MN. It is a Cedarcrest blend which is a mix of 33% Flathead Ledge, 33% Blue River Variegated, 33% Rustic Cedar. Mortar Color: Natural. Joint: Tight.
Sill Type: Indiana 2.25” Thickness.

The paint color used on the main floor is Ben Moore Revere Pewter HC-172.
The white twig chandelier is Naturally Superior Painted Twig Chandelier from Shades of Light -$1,895.00
The foyer lighting is Cosette Lantern by Currey and Company – $1,380.00
Trim & Cabinets Paint Color
The trim and cabinets in this room were painted Ben Moore White Dove.
Room Layout
A custom designed chaise, with F. Schumacher fabric, helps divide the space without obscuring the view.
Ottoman
The leather ottoman is 52″ square and can be customized in any fabric or leather. It is available through Grace Hill Design.
Kitchen Cabinets
The cabinets were custom painted with a multi-step process. A base color was applied, then a gray overcoat color was painted. The cabinets were rubbed to show the base color and then glazed and top coated with a varnish.
How to Achieve this Look
The kitchen cabinets feature a custom finish which involved 7 steps with a light tan underneath, then Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray HC-168 with a glaze on top. Lastly, the painter sprayed it with a lacquer finish for durability.

The mirror mosaic lantern is Currey and Company Corsica Lantern – $1,140.00
Countertop
This kitchen feature granite counters.
Open Space
The entire main floor feels open and it’s perfect for entertaining.
Dining Room Lighting
The breakfast nook lighting is E.F. Chapman Darlana 6 light Linear Pendant – $1,260.00
Powder Room
The powder room features a gray vanity, large basketweave floor tiles and beautiful wainscoting walls with wallpaper above.
Master Bedroom
How wonderful would it to have a bedroom with a lake view like that! Isn’t it peaceful?

Paint Color is Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray HC-168.
Chandelier
I am loving the bubble glass chandelier and the gray decor found in this bedroom. Stunning!
Nightstand
The mirrored nightstand is available through Grace Hill Design.
Bathroom
This bathroom feature some great ideas, from its inspiring tilework to the gray cabinets with charcoal counter.
Bathtub
This black and white bathtub brings some drama to this space and complements the window shades.
Gray Kids’ Bedroom Paint Color
Paint color is Benjamin Moore Amherst Gray HC-167.
Orange & Navy
Orange walls with navy decor and wallpaper works perfectly in this bedroom!
Orange Paint Color
Paint color is Benjamin Moore Tangerine Dream 2012-30.
Playroom Paint Color
The playroom paint color is Benjamin Moore Grassy Fields 2034-30. This is a very fresh green and it’s great for creative areas such as playrooms.
Bonus Room
The bonus room is fun and beautifully decorated. I’m loving the gray striped walls.
The star lighting is Sophia flush mount fixture by Alexa Hampton -$496.00.
Sofa
The sofa/chaise sectional is Grace Hill. The size is 89.5″w x 40″d at the sofa and 60″d at the chaise. As shown in the fabrics used, the price is $5565.00 + sales tax (it includes delivery).

Lighting is Eric Cohler Armillary Sphere Chandelier from Circa Lighting – $1,890.00
Basement
The basement has a more rustic feel thanks to its reclaimed wood paneling and warm colors.
Bar Flooring
This bar flooring is a ceramic tile which looks like wood planks – perfect for a lower level. The brand is American Florim and it was purchased through Tile X Design in Plymouth, MN.
Laundry Room
This space combines a laundry room, mudroom and craft room. I love the combination of gray walls with the navy cubbies.
Outdoors
Blue and white is always a classic choice, even when it comes to the outdoors!
Fireplace
The covered patio features a stone fireplace.

Siding is an LP siding which was pre-finished with Benjamin Moore Hale Navy prior to installation.

How are you today? I hope you’re having a great weekend.
I want to thank each and every one of you for your kind comments and emails regarding my grandfather’s situation. Thank you so much for your prayers. I know that he is being helped by it because he is calmer now, accepting the situation. I am also calmer and at peace. I know very well that it will be very hard to continue this life without having his Light and wisdom by my side but I also know that what he has taught me will live forever in my heart and soul.
Let’s start this week appreciating the people around us. Make sure to show your love and how much you care about the people in your life. Everything is limited on this earth, including our time. So, make sure to live it wisely. Make a difference around you, help more, love more but most of all, make sure to live more. Do what makes you feel alive, found your passion or if you already know what your passion is, then make sure to do it more often. Dance, swim, laugh, paint, talk… move! Don’t let your days pass by without feeling them.
My grandfather is at the very end of his life but I can say that he lived all of his 96 years the best way that he could. He made a difference on our lives, he never stopped, he was smart and could fix anything around the house… he could plant and he had planted many vegetable and fruit gardens for us. He read for me when I was a child, he built swings for me, he bought my first bike and all of the bikes I ever had.. he bought my school supplies and he was always waiting for me outside of my school if it was raining, but most of all, he, together with my grandmother always made me feel loved and protected. I always knew I could count on them for anything and everything, no matter what. They believe in me and on my dreams and they made me believe I could achieve them.
There’s always an opportunity to grow and to expand the best in you, and the best way to do it is by sharing your gifts with others so they can continue to live on.
Create a life where your gifts can be carried on through others. It’s never too late to start and it doesn’t need to be complicated. All you need is to show that you care.
Update:
My dear grandfather passed away peacefully yesterday holding my mother’s hands. I know he is now with my grandmother and without any suffering, any pain. Our faith in God is giving us strength.
Thank you all for your prayers, for your kind words and support throughout this entire time. Thank you for allowing me to share my feelings, my fears, my pain. All of that has helped me to be the way I am today… with hope, because I know that my grandfather’s love is eternal and will always live in my heart.
