Designed by Christyn Dunning of The Guest House Studio, this new beach house feature coastal interiors that will surely inspire you.
The home borders a man-made lake in the sought out community of Daniel Island in Charleston, SC. and it belongs to a young family of four who recently relocated from Texas to Charleston. The wife always wanted a coastal home but the husband wanted something that was not the typical “beach” house but a classic home with strong trim details and modern features with just a dash of coastal flair. The couple had already chosen the Yarmouth Blue from Benjamin Moore for the exterior of the home so the interior designer used that as a starting point for the design of the interior.
Featuring large and spacious rooms, in which most of them feature custom trim and millwork, the designer felt that it was important that the house felt clean and seamless, therefore she brought in rustic white oak floors so the trim and floors could really complement each other. Painting the majority of the house in a crisp white paint color, Sherwin Williams Extra White, and mixing it with pops of navy, yarmouth blue, and gray added warmth and interest to the coastal interiors of this beach house. To bring texture the designer stuck with classic neutral furniture and natural rugs and add more color through art, softgoods, and drapery. The finish result is a stunning, well built home that feels timeless and effortlessly coastal.
This home is stunning, starting from its blue exterior paint color and double doors. Porch ceiling paint color is Sherwin Williams SW 7025 Backdrop.

Foyer
This gorgeous foyer feature shiplap walls, tongue and groove paneling ceiling and blue barn door painted in Benjamin Moore Yarmouth Blue.
Lighting
Foyer lighting is Visual Comfort Darlana 4 Light Medium Lantern – $630 each.
The artwork in the foyer was bought from a local store in Charleston.
Kitchen
This coastal white kitchen, painted in Sherwin Williams Extra White, is offset by a blue painted island. CB2 acrylic counter stools and custom made pin striped roman shades bring some personality to the space.
Backsplash: Calcutta Marble 3″x 6″ and herringbone tile above range.
Island Dimensions: 5′ x 7′.
Faucets: Ferguson.
Mom’s Office
The white kitchen, with flat panel cabinets, open directly to an office. Office cabinet paint color is BM Yarmouth Blue.
Hardware is by Restoration Hardware.
Countertop is Frost White Quartz.
Kitchen Island Paint Color
Kitchen island paint color is Benjamin Moore Yarmouth Blue.
Dining Room
This dining is beyond perfect! I love the layout, the size, the built-in buffet and the window-seat with views of the lake.
Window-seat Fabric: Sunbrella Fabric – Color: Seagull.
Ceiling Detail: Vaulted ceiling with exposed wood beams and tongue & groove paneling.
Chandelier
The chandelier is made of pure white shells; Made Goods Silvana Chandelier $2,400.00
Table is Universal Furniture and the chairs were customer owned. The designer added custom linen slipcovers to soften them.
Kitchen Lighting
The lights in the kitchen are from Shades of Light.
Living Room
The kitchen opens directly to a living room with coffered ceiling and custom built-in bookcases. The console table and side tables are missing in this picture.
Wall Paint Color: SW Anew Gray.
Ceiling: SW Extra White.
Porch Swing
Glass doors lead you to a waterfront porch with custom swing.
These Floors
One thing that really captured my attention in this home is the gorgeous flooring. The rustic plank flooring is DuChateau White Oak Floors.
The blue chairs are Vanguard Furniture and fabric is Duralee.
Ahead, you see the master bedroom entry with built-in bookcases.
Books
The master bedroom entry features custom bookshelves, which is a handy feature for the lawyer of the house.
Study
Crisp white built-in bookcases contrast beautifully with a navy wallpaper while coffered ceiling and a window-seat completes the tailored look of this home office.
Bookcase Wallpaper: Thibaut wallpaper – Dublin Weave in Navy.
Millwork: Custom built trim & ceiling: 1×6” flatwork w/coffered ceiling.
Lighting is from Visual Comfort.
Powder Room
Blue glass tiles add dimension and a timeless appeal to this powder room.
Wall tile: Ann Sacks tile – Lucien Field Tile.
Countertop: Quartz Remnant.
Pale Gray Vanity
Pale gray cabinet paint color is Requisite Gray by Sherwin Williams.
Hardware: Restoration Hardware.
Laundry Room
This laundry room is such a functional space! Cabinets are painted Vervain Blue by Benjamin Moore. The marble tile is 6×12 in a herringbone pattern, and like the designer says; “cat comes extra”. 🙂
Staircase
The staircase features batten and board panels painted in Sherwin Williams Extra White.
Trim Dimensions: 1×2 flat work every 18”.
Wall Sconces: Restoration Hardware.
Railing & Lighting
The staircase railing was custom made.
Pendant: Lucite Silver Pendant found at Neiman Marcus.
Playroom
This is a very smart playroom. Its high ceilings and cabinetry will allow the room to be used for many years beyond the kids young age.
Cabinet paint color is Sherwin Williams SW7006 Extra White.
Walls Paint Color: Sherwin Williams Anew Gray @ 75%.
Fan: Minka Aire.
Rug
The playroom rug is Dash and Albert.
Boy’s Bedroom
Classic coastal colors and decor create the perfect feel for this waterfront bedroom.

Bedding is from Pottery Barn Kids.
Paint Color
The striped wall paint color is Sherwin Williams Anew Gray and Sherwin Williams Creamy.
Guest Bedroom Paint Color
Paint color is Rainwashed by Sherwin Williams.
Guest Bathroom
This bathroom features floor-to-ceiling subway tile in a herringbone pattern. The vanity is painted in a soft gray – Sherwin Williams SW7023 Requisite Gray.
Walls: Sherwin Williams Anew Gray & 3×6 Capricco sky blue glass tile in 3×6 herringbone pattern.
Floors: Silkwhite tile 12×24.
Countertop
Countertop is Silestone Quartz – White Storm.
Master Bedroom
The master bedroom feels collected and calming. The wall paint color is SW Anew Gray 75%.
Drapery fabric is sourced through Lewis & Sheron. Bedding is Pine Cone Hill.
Nightstands are Universal Furniture.

The ceiling features a wallpaper in a sea salt colored grass cloth. Wallpaper is Thibaut – Raffia in Teal.
