This shingle farmhouse is the perfect blend of traditional and contemporary style. Setting was a vital component for this project, surrounded by conservation land within a 72-acre saltwater farm in Portsmouth, RI.
Unlike many farmhouses, this place embraces an open design floorplan. The interiors have a beautiful connection with their surroundings that can easily be enjoyed using the many porches.
This farmhouse has an impeccable architecture in a very special land. Beauty can be seen in every direction and while this home is surrounded by beauty, it is its approach to uncomplicated design that makes everything blend in such a harmonious manner.
This house shows us that we shouldn’t overdo our interiors. Keeping them a little bare can make us feel lighter and more relaxed. This home gives us the feeling that you can finally breathe inside… nothing feels busy and suffocating.
I hope you enjoy its lightness…

The foyer was kept to a minimum, but what really grabs my attention here is the stunning Dutch door.

This is wonderful and I love seeing BM Bone White on the walls- my newest paint color addition.
The house is beautiful but I’m a bit more in love with the land surrounding it 🙂 As a horse owner, there’s nothing more pleasing than being able to see them from inside and you can tell the owners designed this home with that in mind. I can testify to the minimal interior decor making you feel more relaxed. I did away with all the unnecessary *stuff* and it’s been heaven! Cleaning is so much easier & objects, art etc. have a life of their own now.
LOVE!
This has everything. A beautiful location as well as a gorgeous home. It is grand without being ostentatious. I especially love the way they have utilised the location of the windows for maximum view impact and the fire in the kitchen makes it so homely too. Truly lovely!
