Located in Laguna Beach, California, this small shingle beach cottage sits just steps from Crescent Bay beach and features 819 square feet which sits on a 2,600 square foot lot and boasts 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. It was built in 1923 and decorated by Barclay Butera Interiors. The designer added beautiful decor and a soothing paint color to complement the coastal interiors and the close-in ocean view.
This place offers beautiful ocean views from the front deck and a small but adorable backyard. Inside you will find restored hardwood floors, a painted brick fireplace in the living room and a comfortable master bedroom with french doors.
Take a little break and imagine yourself leaving everything and spending a quiet week in this charming shingle beach cottage. Wouldn’t that be lovely?
Small Shingle Beach Cottage with Coastal Interiors
This is the cottage street view. As you can see, this is a tiny home with beautiful grounds on an amazing location.
Breakfast Nook
You don’t need to lack on style just because you’re working with a limited square-footage. Embrace architectural details such as wall paneling, trim and keep it light, from the wall color to furnishings.
Living Room
The living room is truly a great space in this cottage. It’s not a massive room, but the furniture layout and the color scheme makes this room feel connected and large. A floor-to-ceiling mirror opens this space and brings more light in.
Notice the charming painted brick fireplace and the gorgeous art above the mantel.
Cottage Paint Color
The paint color is Benjamin Moore Tranquility AF-490. This was used in the breakfast nook and bedroom as well.
Master Bedroom
The master bedroom is tailored and welcoming. I love the French doors leading to the garden and the comfortable approach of this entire space.
The duvet is the ‘Rus Duvet’ by Barclay Butera Interiors.
California Beach
Sometimes all we need is to get outside and feel the sunshine on our skin. An ocean view like that wouldn’t be bad neither!

How your day is going? I had a great night of sleep, which is not always the case. I tend to work until late preparing posts or working on projects, and being able to have some extra hours on bed today really made a difference! I feel I have more energy and I am even less grumpy… Oh, I do have my days! LOL 🙂
I hope you enjoyed seeing this cottage. As you know I love coastal cottages/homes and I always get excited when I find something special like this place.
Enjoy your day, my friends and we will talk some more tomorrow!
