If you read my blog for a while, you probably know how much I love cottages and that’s why I like to share them every Tuesday with you. There are many kind of cottages that can make me dream for hours, and stone cottages are one of them.
Stone cottages usually have this charm that embraces you, just like this restored stone cottage in Spain.
Located in Bajo Ampurdán, Genora, Spain, this tiny cottage was completely in ruins when architect Lluís Auquer decided to restore the place. First, he fell in love with its location, with its mature landscaping. Then, as an architect, he had to fall in love with the possibility the stone walls had.
The architect opened walls and windows, creating easy access to the outdoors e bringing as much natural light as possible. He also recycled the original beams of the cottage and kept the beautiful arch, now dividing the master bedroom from the bathroom.
As you roll down this page, you’ll feel how impressive and charming this stone cottage feels. Let its warm walls and texture embrace you. Perhaps, you be able to imagine yourself spending a sunny day in this place.
Stone Cottage
The interiors of this cottage are all about comfort and color. You can’t help but feel the energy of the space.
The coffee-table is by India & Pacific and the couch is by Arkitectura. The rug is from Morocco.
Color & Coziness
The architect opened walls to create an open concept space, connecting the living room to the kitchen.
Rustic Kitchen
A rustic pine table is used as island. You have plenty of workspace and for eating. Practical and charming.
I also love the flooring in this cottage.
Roses
Beautiful patina is found in many items in this cottage, like on this brass faucet. The white marble sink is an antique, also restored.
Bedroom
Keeping the original arch and beams was definitely a very smart idea. This bedroom feels very inviting.
The bench and the bed are from Toca Fusta. The rug is from Morocco.
Romantic
A feminine touch.
Bathroom
The bathroom also feels very rustic, which is perfect for this cottage.
Dreamy Cottage
The architect created a small oasis for family and friends.

Under the Shade
If you didn’t do any gardening this year yet, this probably will inspire you. The architecture is fantastic, but the rest is all landscaping.

Pool
The elevated pool is not too big, which makes it easier to maintain. Notice its square shape and the blue mosaic tile.
